how many pumps are in them do ye no.. my mate mentioned a lift pump

Does anybody no which one i wud change 1st

Many of these injection systems have a fuel shut off valve to prevent the engine from continuing to run when you switch off the ignition. This is achieved via a vacuum operated fuel shut off module mounted on top of the fuel distribution pump. When the ignition is switched off by turning the ignition key a vacuum switch integrated into the ignition lock interrupts the supply of vacuum to the shut off module. This cuts the fuel to the engine causing it to stop. So a fault with
1 the vacuum supply
2 the ignition switch
3 the vacuum module

might all cause the fuel supply to the engine to be interrupted and the the engine to die. You should be able to check for a vacuum supply to the the module on the pump reasonably easily- If that's OK its probably the module itself. A local commercial diesel engine specialist will be familiar with these engines -- the injector pump systems will be shared by many MB vans and should sort you out at commercial van labour rates . Don't whatever you do start fiddling with the high pressure fuel distribution injector pump itself as it needs specialist gear to set its timing relative to the engine

Got all this from the HAYNES manual on the C class Product: Mercedes-Benz C-Class Petrol and Diesel (93 - Aug 00) L to W

you have a air lock you need to bleed the system from air she will start asap once done

Despite all my dire warnings of what might be wrong it could easily be that you do indeed have an airlock in the system IF YOU YOU RAN OUT OF DIESEL??????? :dk: If you didn't run out of fuel when the engine stopped then my suggestion is a possibility. :thumb: Running out of fuel in diesel engined car is never a good idea.

on most diesel cars their is a filter in the engine bay open the valve let a little fuel out and wait till no bubbles come out them tighten the valve and off you go

Thanks folks for all the information im going tomorrow to look at the car so i will let you's no how i get on Cheers
