A friend of mine has contacted me about an Alfa Romeo Montreal that may be coming up for sale soon. I've always wanted one, problem is the car for sale is very expensive and I'd have to sell the CL65 to go towards the cost of the Alfa.
I haven't put this in the for sale section as I'm still can't make up my mind and the present owner of the Alfa can't decide whether he wants to sell it either. Is this a Mexican stand off? but thought if I could gauge what sort of interest there would be in the car it may help with my turmoil/dithering.
It could be sold with or without the new Vossen wheels and the lowering module if required.
I know the two that have come up for sale recently sold very quickly so I guess with there only being 23 in the UK they are quite sought after.

Christ on a bike that Alfa is lovely
He’s got you over a barrel on price if he sells though
I envy your decision. I want a Hakosuka but that won’t happen for a long time yet ...

I just saw a Montréal on the road in Scotland this week. Smelt heavily of fumes from behind so I quickly dispatched it. Looked alright but I wouldn't want to pay big money for it. If it's the right car for you I'd wager you should already be sold on the idea...

By the sounds of it you’re looking for a third person to enter your Mexican stand off!

Good point, I'll probably stick it on Pistonheads this week-end and see what happens. I know with the money I will hopefully get for the CL and the money I have set aside I can approach the seller with a decent offer which hopefully he can't refuse. For various reasons I just can't go and buy the car whilst still having the CL.

I’d make the potential seller an offer before selling the CL and agree a price personally, what if it sells then he decided to keep the Alfa or you can’t agree on a price?

I've already seen it and made an offer, don't want to say too much but he has two other people interested in the car who he refuses to sell it to for some reason or other.

Ok, I see now, hope it works out for you.

The last CL65 that came up for sale had 8 interested parties... it sold to the 1st without hesitation I was told... so your CL will be gone in minutes Birma....

Amazingly, one of my workmates father works on Alfa and specialises in the Montreal. Has four in his workshop for servicing.
Small world.

Be a shame to see it go but good luck with the sale...

Thanks all for the kind comments, the car is out there for sale now so the wheels are in motion if you'll forgive the pun.

fabulous car, if it was a bit smaller I would buy it and hide it from the missus! GLWTS, sure it will go quick

That makes me suspicious mate, go in "with eyes wide open" why would you not want to sell to "Two Others" are they:Friends and there's something to hide? Or what? I don't like the sounds of that plus you're going to have to go in high - you want it he doesn't want to sell, so you're going to have to make him sell..

What about offering him your car and a small amount of cash? kills two birds with one stone (small amount being a tank of fuel lols!)

Shouldn't that be a Montreal stand off ? In a class of their own, as long as it's not rusty you have to buy it ! Chickens teeth don't come along often.

Let me assure you it is genuine. The seller isn’t interested in having another car and I’ve been asked to respect his privacy.
