Hello there!

I haven't thought about that before, but I wonder if anyone would spare some time to help me out on a Mercedes oriented trip?

I am coming to UK on Wednesday - March 23rd. I should be at the Luton Airport at 7:30 am. I am coming to pick up an E320 from S. Croydon.

Would anyone be interested in picking me up from Luton and joining me to check out the car? If everything turns out OK, I am planning to drive this RHD back to Poland on its own wheels - over a 1000 miles. ;)

If anyone could help me out with the transport or meet me somewhere and help check the British paperwork, I would be very thankful.

All the best!
Maciej

Sorry mate,I can`t help but boy you like to give some notice

I am hoping for some last minute volunteer to assist me in this quest. :)

It's not as easy as I thought at first to plan a trip of this kind. :D

Even though the seller states that the car is in good condition etc., I still need to take a bag of tools on the plane and the missing emergency equipment.

Plus - this will be the beginning of my 3.6 conversion, so I'd really like it to go nicely.

You can get a train from Luton to London Bridge and than from London Bridge to Croydon.I might be able to meet you there.I`ll you about that tomorrow.Need to ask my mate if he could give me a lift
What car are you buying, coupe or saloon?

It's a 1994 Sedan (Saloon?) 199 over beige.

Mate,I`m not driving at the moment but even if I was I would advice you to get the train.Much faster :thumb:

I see. Thanks for the advice!

There's a direct train from Luton Parkway Station to East Croydon Station. I guess I'll take that one.

Even better :thumb:

If you check this link it tells you how to do it by train. As has been said, much faster than driving. If you can get to Croydon by train I would be happy to pick you up from there if that helps.
Regards, Jeff.

d_w124, let me know if you can meet me up somehow. I am a little bit confused with the variety of V5 documents and could use some local help in determining if everything is OK from the legal / paperwork side.

All I can say is, jestes odwazny - taki kawal nieznanym samochodem!

Is it a private sale or a dealer?

Luton to Croydon at that time of the morning would / could take 3 hrs - esp being a wednesday as it seems busier for some reason.

Best to take train - no stress :O)

Definately take the train!! I've done that journey (I live near the aurport) and it once took me 4 hours!!!

If you do go by car, leave the journey until at least 10.30, it does quieten down a bit by then...

If you decide to go to a different station (Luton Town or Leagrave..) I could meet you at the airport and take you..... just PM me) :)

Thanks for the offer.

If you all advise the train, train it is.
Time is very important. I have the eurotunnel booked plus need to be well enough to drive all the way. 4 hrs in heavy traffic is exhausting. It says train takes about an hour.

As I said before - it'd be nice if someone could at least tell me what papers I should take a closer look at.

The guy is a dealer - do I need to see the permission of the original owner to sell the car or is it regulated differently? Because I understand that the registration documents will have the name of the original owner in them, not the dealer. I need to show that I bought the car legally - from one who has legal capacity to sell it.

The registration document will have the previous owner name in it. You need to make sure that the VIN number and the registration number on the car match with the registration document. Then you need a receipt with the dealer name on it - signed by the dealer with the car details on the receipt of course. That would be sufficient proof in this country - and I am sure it would be fine for export and import purposes.

Maciej:Sorry to let you know this late mate but I`m not able to meet you there tomorrow
I can pm you my number if you like if it would help you somehow
