Does anyone out there own or have access to a pukka MB Hardtop Shuttle for an R129 ? I'm trying to get hold of some detailed photos of the assembly, especially the clips that attach to the hardtop itself, to see if it's possible to fabricate a set myself ...can anyone help?

i have ones, what do u mean by shuttles, r they the front clip on pieces or something on the back

I think the hardtop shuttle is a device for fitting and removing the hardtop without assitance. It looks like an engine hoist, but adapted to move the r129 hardtop around. Mb used to sell them form the dealerships, but they are pretty rare.

sp!ke had/has one...

They are very rare...a guy on another forum was selling one but wouldnt say how much he wanted.... I think they are worth £500 ish..

I was given first refusal on one but it didn't fit in my garage (it was 7'6" tall), so I posted it up on here a long time ago.

I can't recall who bought it in the end now. I'll have to look through my old PM's in the hope I still have the message.

The hard top shuttle is more like an engine hoist... It was designed for the workshop to be able to remove the top easily.... Hence not many around privately.

MB used to do a ceiling mounted hoist for the earlier SL models ( certainly for the W113 and R107 ) , so I'd be surprised if there wasn't one for the R129 .

I think the hoist could be used to store your hardtop hanging from the garage ceiling .

There is one for the 129, like mine....

I have fitted an electric hoist with mine to make it easier.

Just seen this post, which is a bit dated now. I have one, but I'm away at the moment, back on Tuesday. Let me know if you still need help? From my Photobucket album:

I agree that for most people a fixed hoist makes more sense if they don't have anyone to help with occasionally lifting the top on / off.

As an aside the OP hasn't looked at this thread since May 11th :dk:
