    Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a new tv & looking at a 48" Curved Screen Samsung

    UE48JU6500 or UE 48JU6740 models.

The 6500 model is on offer at £749 in Currys & the 6740 is on offer at £899

The TV is only used for Sky or Freeview & movies (not gaming) does any member have one of these TV's & how do you get on with it.

Thank you for any comments/ reviews

    David

All I can say is that I narrowed down the 65" version of the UE48JU6500 down to my final three after looking at quite a few - good specs at a good price (Currys were knocking an extra 10% off listed prices for TVs until this Tuesday)

Eventually went for a 65" Panny - good value with the 10% off. Looks like I might be wall mounting it tonight.

Can't wait for Mrs Ted to go out so that I can watch some 65" HD porn...:devil::ban::ban::thumb::thumb::eek::eek:

I wouldnt bother with the curved screen unless you/anyone else viewing the telly will always be dead centre of the picture. Otherwise you lose out on its main selling feature.

Stick to a standard Samsung :thumb:

My 50" one is 6 months old and fantastic.

I bought exactly this 3 weeks ago and its fantastic, you don't have to sit dead centre of the screen its designed to be viewed from all angles and the picture quality is stunning much better than the equivalent flat screen.

Best thing I've bought in the last couple of years and SWMBO and JSWMBO think it is absolutely stunning

At these prices it would be rude not to buy :D

The 6740 would have also bought from Richer Sounds but although they advertised it there was no stock anywhere near me

    Genuine question.

I can see the benefit if placed in a corner as it'd take up less space than a conventional flat tv. Other than that, what are the benefits of having a curved screen?

I've always thought that you'd have to go up to something like 150" to get the feeling of being "immersed" by the screen.

It's worth joining Richer Sounds "VIP club" (mailing list in reality) as some items carry a discount to members only.

I got £50 off my new Panasonic Viera this week and there was also a good soundbar offer (which I didn't take advantage of as I had my eyes set on a Yamaha soundbase).

If there is no extended warranty included on your chosen item, they will sell you one for 10% of the ticket price.

We're settling down tonight to the last two episodes of Happy Valley on DVD and enjoying the novelty of a new (and bigger) TV.

That is cheap for a 4K I'm tempted as Fallout 4 is being released on the 10th and this would be better than my old 40 Sony anyone after a decent 40 inch 1080p TV?

When I got my TV last year...just before they swiped my card I asked Mr Google on an in store desk top and found same TV deal a bit cheaper, think it was about £30 which they matched, if exact same deal Richer Sounds price match no issues...like you said need to check warranty as that can be the difference, mine had 5 years...

Hehe. Funny how things get you thinking.

I logged on here around tea time. Seen this thread, and now I'm searching for TV's myself. Nothing wrong with our TV, but I can get the 40" version of the curved Samsung above for £551.00

(48" would look too big in our lounge.) Very tempting indeed. :bannana:

My TV's always get bigger when replaced.

    I went from 32>37>50inch.

My next TV will probably be 52-55inch and OLED screen, but as my 5 year old LG plasma still works perfectly, I have no reason to change.

I'm after a 50"+ one of the latest TV's, not a curved one though. Nowadays there's nowhere near as many inputs as there used to be when HD first came out, I'd really like one which has PC/VGA input to also link to the PC... but finding a nice appropriate one is a different story!

FYI my wife says bigger is just a pain in the ass! :D
