Hi can anyone tell me with a C180 manual W202, got my car a few weeks ago really happy with it but cant seem to go abouve 105mph (where permitted as the car manufactures say). Top speed is ment to be 120mph, think maybe because the old guy who owned it never done over 10mph maybe car needs a good motorway run abroard. So basically has anyone here maxed their C180 and if so what speed did you reach! Cars ment to be similar performance to my 1.8 406 I had and that would sit there at 110mph all day and I could max it at 125mph. Anyway would be nice to here some comments :)

I've never tried but it feels like it could go well over 100.

Edit: Maybe not with that rack on though.

Koolvin has had his C180 Auto well above 100mph I believe (before the turbo!).

I believe my old C180 Auto estate once achieved 125mph on the speedo, on a private road, of course!

The C250TD is capable of much more..........so I am led to understand....in theory....I guess!!

I did 115Mph in my C180 Auto last week with no trouble

I've had my W202 manual up over 100, but didnt try to push it beyond that - its not much fun if your tyre blows out

Remember when comparing C180's to other 1.8 cars, your C180 is probably heavier, so it might seem sluggish in comparison. I drove an auto W202 for a while, and much preferred the manual - i found myself kicking down all the time to get some umph.

The C180 mighn't be a speed demon, but for everyday driving its fine - mine zips up and down the motorways all the time..! :D

What gear were you in you might find that she is faster in 4th, i had a 190E that was faster in 4th than 5th.
Keep her lit!

Also remember thats speedos are less accurate the faster you go and depend a lot on quality of tyres, etc., . I have done between 115 and 120 in a C180 (in the middle of the ticks on the dash) but I read that when you are going fast that the thing just isn't as accurate as it is at low speeds.

Our speedo's are more reliable than most.

Measuring against the GPS on my Road Angel (accurate while at a steady speed), I have found that my MB speedo only over reads by 2-3mph from 30mph to flat out.

I managed 110mph yesterday! I know it's got more to give :)

Stop taking those chances, treat yourself to a euro tunnel ticket and go and play where your license is safe (DE) !

hi, I have a 190E 1.8 manual and I did a little more than 120 mph with it (195 km/h) and the car is like almost 14 years old and has 230.000 km so I guess you could do that for certain with a c180 because it has more hp and it's just newer.

I'm going away boxing day to france for a week so will give a real test then but you know what it's like that's a long time to wait, we all get carried away. But i know what you mean your right. Anyway who said I did it on a road could have been in a private car park :D

Was gonna put new post but may as well put it on here, went to BMW garage with my brother yesterday and they had loads of cars in the show room, sat in the latest models and i wasn't really impressed. Anyway went off to mercedes after and sat in the latest models and comparing them I thought the mercedes interiors were much better and more spacious comparing like with like.e.g thought the E class had much nicer interior than 5 series and also much more space! :)

Does it have a setting for winter tyres? I know on mine through the trip computer you can say if winter tyres are fitted and it will restrict the speed to 105mph. Did the W202 have anything like that?

Mine doesn't have any settings it's very basic. But after doing 110mph I know I can do more. Will wait till I go away dont want to loose my license! :o
