Anyone near Middlesex who could/would go check out a used car for us?

Spotted a car on AT at Green Motors in Middlesex for our daughter.

Is there anyone nearby with car knowledge who’d be prepared to go check it out for a fee?

Thanks in advance.

Ant.

What’s the car Ant?

I just had a quick look at their page, and if I’ve got the right place all I would say is that looking at some of their stock it doesn’t look too encouraging.

I can cast an eye over the advert if you like and if it’s something really promising I may be able to get to have a look, I can’t guarantee though as I never seem to have much free time at the moment!

It looks and sounds reasonably good to me, looks like the last owner has had it 10+ years too which is a good sign :)

I know very little about Minis though!

If anyone could go give it a wee test drive and the once over I’ll happily pay for their time.

I know it’s a long way from us (266 miles) but it seems a nice spec and low mileage. A train journey and a day out with my daughter too. Be a nice lil adventure. 🥳

Down here we wouldn’t say it’s in Middlesex. It’s in Greenford. It’s a 20 minute drive from me so if nobody can get there I could possibly shoot over and have a look.

Looks like a nice car. I bought my son a 53 plate about 4 years ago.

Thank you Darrell. I’d appreciate that. Let me know if and when and I’ll notify them. 👍

I might be able to help 🤞 - I’ll keep you posted.

My experience with mini's is there a pain in the rear to work on nearly all have or had the power steering pump leaking which is expensive to replace also keep an eye on the rear wishbone bushes that's another common fault plus if you get 1 without an oil leak it's a bonus not had much to do with the auto but the 5 speed Midland box is made of cheese

It’ll be Sunday.
I’ll cycle there and use it as a bit of training and if it’s raining I’ll use it as a driving lesson for my daughter.

The CVT was subject to a class action in the states though !!! Google it, as to whether it's any more likely to go pop than any other aging auto box :dk:

Same happened for the Porsche 996.

It’s this one Will:

Has messaged from the garage today. Unable to place a deposit to reserve. They offer a 1 month warranty on engine and gearbox only.

having not bought a car of this age for many a year (from a garage) I’m not sure if this is standard practice?

A 17 year old car so I’m not expecting it to be perfect for the age and money.

@Darrell : I’ve asked about their Sunday opening hours. I’ll let you know their reply.

They are bound by The Sale of Goods Act , 6 months if my memory is right , anyway I think I would be looking elsewhere with a garage who was telling me one month!
