Anyone near Middlesex who could/would go check out a used car for us?

I’ve always used Autoglym Engine Cleaner. Just spray onto cold engine, brush over then hose off.
Would that work on the painted bodywork (underside of bonnet), plastic panels/covers, rubber hoses, electric cables, reservoirs etc??? It’s quite a mess in there.

It's a general degreaser and works pretty well; make sure the engine is cold and careful where you spray the hose around the electrics

Another vote for the Autoglym to clean the engine.
I wrap a bit of clingfilm around the obvious electrical parts and don’t saturate it with water.
It should do a good job under the bonnet if you agitate it.
Finish off with a rubber/vinyl dressing when it has dried out 👍🏻👍🏻

I confess that I don’t bother wrapping electrical parts, instead just avoiding directing high pressure water at them. After all, they’re exposed to the elements anyway so should be reasonably water resistant. But to be on the safe side I have the engine running while doing that final rinse.
