MERCEDES BENZ E 320 For Sale (1995) on Car And Classic UK

Wouldn't mind having a look at this but it's quite a distance from Carlisle! If there's anyone who's very near and could do me a favour...??

Some more info I've gleaned from the owner:

4 previous owners, (2 owners in the same family)No major work (I mentioned head gasket & loom, so maybe they might need doing!) and with full service history.
No advisories from last MoT on 26.01.2011, taxed to July.

Air con but no cruise. Don;t know if 4 or 5 speed auto.

Sorry-nowhere near Nailsea but I can tell you its a 5 speed box (the Sport/econ switch is high up by Park not down by 2/3 on the selector).

In all likelyhood the loom is on its way out so do budget nearly 600 for that.

No electric adjustment on seats and no seat heating either. Bodywork 'looks' ok but its a bit pircey for a saloon I feel.

I'm no mechanic but could quite happily have a look for obvious faults/test drive if you give me a list of what you want checked??

@ Big Dan: Cheers, that's very kind of you. Please do not go to any trouble. There's nothing specific I would be looking for, just the usual things to look for on any Merc - make sure the gears are smooth, check the oil pressure, does it start ok, any knocks / rattles, signs of oil in the water (head gasket), check the bodywork up close for rust. As you say, the obvious faults!

If you are planning to go, let me know and I'll make sure you're re-imbursed for any expenditure incurred.
