Anyone used Prestige car servicing before?

Hi,

Saw this on the internet:

MERCEDES Servicing Up To 33% Cheaper Than Dealers
Over 400 Branches Nationwide.

Has anyone used them before? Is Mobilo Life and the paint warranty affected if we used Prestige instead of MB for the A and B service?

Thanks.
Not heard about any paint warranty?? To maintain the Mobilo Warranty you have to comply with all the terms and conditions laid down in your service booklet.

Short answer = Yes

John

I have enquired about being an outlet for them before.

They are just a middle man for garages and specialists. They do not use genuine parts BTW.

I spoke to Their MD for a while and he seemed to know what he was talking about.

That explains their prices, they charge considerably more than my Indy who is a fully trained time-served MB guy with 15yrs plus experience and real passion for Mercs.

There's a long thread on HonestJohn about this, but it's been hidden now (the mods on that site are *extremely* touchy). You've no idea where your car is going - they collect it and bring it back.
Also (I think this was particularly on BMW) the prices they quoted were dearer than the BMW dealers.

To maintain Mobilio is all one needs done is to have the car serviced at a MB dealership? If they tell me I need new brake pads and/or discs can I have that done at an inde and still have mobilio cover intact?

Just thinking on how to save a few bob...

:) I don't see a problem with that but just make sure they use genuine parts and do NOT stamp your service booklet. :)

I just had a customer in the workshop who thought I was part of the Prestige car servicing franchise.

The cheek. Nearly belted him.

I initially thought the post was about you Ollie

Thanks for all the replies. Guess I will just have to look for a local independent Mb specialist to do my next servicing so that it doesn't affect the Mobilo cover.

Anyone knows of one near the Wembley area or within reasonable driving distance?

Thanks.

Sorry, wasn't thinking straight when I replied. I was at home waiting for the Brish Gas engineer to turn up to fix my radiator.

What I meant to say is that I need to weigh up the cost of keeping my Mobilo warranty or save some money by using an Independent for servicing and losing Mobilo. If I go the latter route, it would be nice to get some recommendations. If my mind serves me right, George Fraser was one such garage in Alperton.

Cheers.

It might be interesting to find out if your local main dealer offers a discvount for older cars? Some do, some don't. If they do, then they become quite competitive.

Good luck with the decision

Hi John,

Thanks for the tip about asking if there's any discount for older cars. Mighht call a few dealers nearby.

Cheers.

Hang about - I thought this had all changed now, and that so long as your car is serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, it doesn't matter whether they are an approved dealer or not.

I think I'd want to know EXACTLY where my car was going. While I'm an enthusiastic supporter of the good independent garage, I would like to check them out before submitting my car for the attentions of their grease-monkey.

:) Not for Mobilo, your choice, your decision. No one has to take there car to a main dealer and yes, your partly right. The three year warranty I believe will still be valid?? The Mobilo warranty is a seperate issue.

So what's the difference between the normal 3 year manufacturer's warranty and the Mobilo warranty?
