Anyone with STAR in (South) Wales?

Hi folks,

I've got a 2004 SL500 with an SBC code that can only be cleared by using STAR - I've even got the instructions of how to do it! - but I don't fancy buying the full system for the one job (my Foxwell code reader does most things).
The SBC pump etc is all reconditioned and fitted about a year ago, so it's not trying to dangerously extend the life of an old one, but it seems the garage that fitted it for the previous owner couldn't clear this message.

I'm between Cross Hands and Carmarthen, but perfectly happy to drive pretty much anywhere in Wales to sort this... obviously with beer tokens in exchange for the help

You cannot buy a Star system (not legally anyway)

Do you not have any MB specialists close to you?

There's a couple I've found - Bridgend and Cardiff - but so far I've had difficulty getting hold of them (just the same as pretty much any garage you can't just pop in to see!)

I used to use Continental Cars in Cardiff for my ML but think they have closed down. There is a garage called A1 Diagnostics in Sloper Road Cardiff that advertises it has Star etc with ability to update your service records etc, never used them but website looks very professional

Forgot to say I never found anything nearer when I lived near Carmarthen , now it’s only 10 miles from home to Cardiff I no longer have a Mercedes , typical

I can do most jobs myself so I'm not worried about specialists normally, it's just this one thing that needs the full kit.

A1 seems to get... varied reviews, but it's a basically simple job that I have the "how to" for, so I don't think anyone could mess it up too badly...?

No reply from Continential in Bridgend or A1; Stuttgart in ponty don't want to follow random internet instructions about brake systems which I guess is fair enough, even though I know there's nothing wrong with it.

Surely someone within a couple of hour's drive has it?
