Anyone's E55K Estate or anyone know about it?

Thanks, learnt something new today ;)

Can't remember seeing many 211 E55k Estates ever being for sale for 8 months unsold. Not sure that is a good sign.

I'm pretty sure it's not, considering that it doesn't seem overpriced.

Never had that happen - in NE Scotland during several winters.

Never had that happen - in any of the four LPG outlets I use.
Out of interest where are the LPG outlets you use? (I had a friend here near Rothiemay with LPG Range Rover but he had his own gas tank)

Primarily the Shell King St (BOD end) outlet or ASDA Garthdee if I'm at the south of Abz. Both are priced at 72-73p/litre. If I'm avoiding Abz then Gaulds Gas in Inverurie and there's Gleaner at Cairnie (also at Kinloss though I've never used it) and southside at Fiddes.
With a 120 litre tank (fill to 100 litres) it pays me to return home from say Peterhead or Aboyne via Abz or Inverurie from Deeside. If Gleaner's prices were more reasonable it would get all my custom. There's also LPG available somewhere just north of Ellon but I've never been and not exactly handy for Rothiemay. Your friend is best sticking to his bulk tank.

I would imagine it’s getting increasingly difficult to find a really nice E55k

They’re getting on a bit now, but I guess compared to most AMG coupés/cabriolets etc most have been well used especially the estates :thumb:

Found an E500 that looks interesting although very heavy on miles:

Not anyone that anyone here has owned or knows anything about is it please?

Is there such a thing as an S211 E500 AMG?

No. However, I think the Avantgarde trim included the AMG front bumper and side skirts. The tailpipe trims definitely say AMG, but the real 211 AMG had four exhaust pipes, not two. The 211 predated the AMG designation as a trim level alone.

Thanks, I thought the same. Maybe seller thinking like many that is has AMG alloys and exhaust it must be an AMG :)

Seems like a car I could get on with but a 175k miler is always going to be tricky and a small market to sell on I guess.

Always tough to value cars like this as WBAC & MW quote £1111 & £1185 of course!

Seems a well looked after example just struggling to see it worth more than £4k to me without finding it hard to sell on or losing my shirt if I do.

Here's some info

I did a couple of lpg conversations myself. The car runs much hotter and you do need to keep an eye on engine temps. Servicing involves making sure the thermostat is changed every 50k, spark plugs 30k and making sure the water and oil are topped up to help engine stay cool. The octane is much higher as well and it does run dry, so worth cycling the car on petrol once a fill up.

In terms of saving, you will save a lot of money!! The running cost is simply amazing, compared to super unleaded and diesel. If you purchase a car fitted with lpg system, make sure you obtain lpg installation certificate as some insurance companies may ask for it especially in an event of a claim.

If you run out of lpg, the car simply run on petrol mode. You can run on petrol and if you decide to never fill up with lpg, then that's fine because you can just run on petrol.

Performance wise, you do loose a bit of power but not detrimental. The best lpg kits to have are Prins, BRC, Stag.

Here is link to a project I did many year back, brings back some memories 😀

Really?......the car is 20 years old...so it's only done about 8750 per year....so about average these days (the average UK mileage has dropped from about 12000 to about 9000 over the last decade or so).

So after a few messages late last night finding out about the car I agreed a deal with the seller and he kindly delivered over this morning.

Has a few cosmetic bumps and bruises externally but the interior is in great condition and the mechanicals all look very good. All the important parts looked to have been changed and seems a well looked after example.

You could easily think the interior has done 75k miles not 175k miles. Pretty rare and interesting car and should serve me well for the foreseeable future. At least now I can crack on getting the E43 fully advertised now and sold.

I'll run this for a few.months then can decide if it is a long term keeper or short to medium term stepping stone while I look for a permanent replacement to the E43. Feels nice to be back in a 211 again.

One of the best things I like about the w211/s211, is the amazing ride comfort, on airmatic suspension, it's one of those timeless cars that you can't go wrong.

Did you test the lpg, you should save lots on running cost 😉

It’s not the E55K, it’s the E500 he bought 👍

Just as good 👍
