Apple CarPlay issues 2022 Vito (W447)

Thanks for that. 1st world problems obviously but Bloomin annoying.

Just carried out a quick search. Around £63

iPhone Wireless Carplay Adapter, Wireless Carplay Dongle Converts Factory Cars Wired Carplay to Wireless, iPhone Carplay Bluetooth Adapter, 5Ghz WiFi Auto-Connect Online Update, Support iOS 13-16 https://amzn.eu/d/bf2CJkv

If I’m honest I doubt it’ll work either. Both phone and lead work perfectly in the car so I’m assuming an adapter won’t help much. It’s got to be an issue within the van. 🤷‍♂️
Did you try this solution in the end? My unit does the same. Typically at random times while Navigating, meaning I need to pull over to deactivate directions and just use my phone. Speakers and radio reception also abysmal.

I’m flitting between phones as and when but the iPhone7 is on its last legs.

I need to stop being a tight bugger and give this a try:

Just chirping in again!

I might have mentioned this before but it does seem to be that when CarPlay is plugged in, it disconnects Bluetooth.

So to me, it seems to be a potential Bluetooth issue, more than likely on the phone.

I’ve just upgrade to 16.5.1 and on the mbux unit in the loan Citan, and so far it seems to be behaving itself and hasn’t dropped like it was before.

Picking the Vito up soon so that’ll be interesting!

Not so sure about that mate. When Apple CarPlay disconnects my phone maintains the Bluetooth connection for phone calls etc.

I have tried turning my phone’s Bluetooth off BEFORE connecting to Apple CarPlay but this seems to make no difference whatsoever.

So, when’s delivery/collection day? 🥳

When I plug my old phone in to use the CarPlay features (SatNav mostly), the BlueTooth to my real phone (the one that I want to use & with the sim card fitted) does not link to BT -- in order to make a call I have to unplug from CarPlay. Incoming calls can work but the old phone is wifi connected to the new phone for signal. Total pain in the .......

Ok just collected the van and connected up my phone.

Now, I’ve only done the return trip from the dealer with Google maps on display and it seemed to behave itself with no disconnections. However the dealer did say that it must be a genuine Apple cable, which I happened to take with me so I’ll try and aftermarket one at some point.

Probably jinxed it now though.

With the new van I upgraded to the 119 with a kind dealer contribution towards the coat and swapped the alloys for the 5 spoke at no cost.

First impressions, for 190hp it doesn’t really feel like it. I know the engine has to run in but I was expecting it to be a bit more responsive. We’ll see how it goes with some miles on it.

Ride is great although I have just set up the app and using the tyre monitor all four tyres are near on 60psi when recommended for half load is about 50.

So much for a pdi eh?

Radio is pretty crap so I’ll look into getting an amp and upgrade speakers installed, along with sound proofing the bulkhead as it’s very boomy, although that might improve once I have loaded it up with stuff.

I did grab the option of putting some sound deadening in all the exposed panels in the rear before the ply lining was done and it has helped quite down the tinniness when closing the doors!

EDIT:

To add, doing a vin decode, the radio i have installed is code E2R which comes back as Radio Generation2, just in case thats relevant as my van is now a model year 03/2023-

I used this site to decode..

Yes, they told me the same so I ordered a lightening cable from Apple. But same issue unfortunately.

That’s interesting. When I ordered mine the 5 spokes were not an option due to the increased (standard) 30.5t GVW. 🤷‍♂️

Same here and as you say, racked out and loaded with tools it’s even more sluggish. Andrew @ MSL quoted £599 for a 250bhp remap and dyno service. I my well book that in as an excuse for a few days away to tie in with a visit to a mate. 🥳

I’m on 60psi and happy with ride. But as said, van is fairly well ladened.

Glad you got the van. Been a long wait after the mis-order first time round. Good service from the dealer. 👍

Interesting comments about the performance of the 119. Have always had one pencilled in as a replacement for our 120 - that's always felt pretty rapid and certainly tows 1.5 tonnes with great ease.

Can’t get the hang on multi quoting so I’ll reply in order of your replies :D

Well, so far it’s been ok!

Yes you are correct, when ordering I noticed the reduced weight capacity of the 5 spoke, which as it turns out also reduced the ride height of the rear end slightly which I preferred the look of plus I didn’t need the extra capacity. (Bit of word soup there!)

Actually, to be honest, now I am getting used to it, it does have a quite good pick up now I’m pressing the loud pedal a little more, which before I was only really feathering it.

Now I’ve adjusted the tyre pressures down to what I need it’s a little comfier on the ride.

And lastly, my original van wasn’t an mis-order, it got reversed into a lamp post the day before collecting and damaged the tail gate and rear bumper etc! The dealer has been brilliant to be fair so absolutely no complaints from me

Ahhhh. That was it. Couldn’t quite remember the happenings of your first order. 👍

Glad you had a great experience.

Looking forward to seeing more pics of it once fully kitted out and ready for some graft.

TBH aside from the CarPlay/head unit issue and TPMS valve I’m made up with mine despite my old man bitching. I love cleaning it and it get’s positive comments from family, friends and most importantly my customers. 👌

Ok guys just updating here, but so far i have had 0 issues with Carplay, and i have also used a stumpy Anker cable for a few days and had no problems with this either.

Therefore, i guess the newer radios, as crap as they are, have had some sort of update internally or F/W recently.

Having said that, will be looking to replace my Audio 30 in the near future anyway, so i might put it up for sale on here if anyone wants it.

Not sure if i can get any serial numbers from it, or firmware version so anyone can compare to theirs, but if someone buys it, there is no guarantee it will solve anyone else's problems!

Edit: Ok here are the details.

Software version : 6.30
Daimler Software Version: 22/42.02
Daimler Software Part Number: A447 902 84 14
Daimler Hardware Version: 22/14.00
Daimler Hardware Part Number: A447 901 67 08

There is also a Machine & Unit ID but im not sure if thats relevant tbh.

Great to hear it’s been consistent Jason. Long May it continue 🤞.

How’s the new van experience? How’s the configuration coming on?

Seeing as we’re now in Q3 I emailed the supplying dealer to ask about the fix regarding the software update. Hopefully once installed it’ll fix my CarPlay issues.

Please keep me informed of your head unit replacement. 👍

Yes all good mate, although i haven't had much chance to rack out the rear fully just yet and i really haven't had the time!

Do your radio 'numbers' match mine?

So, obvious that yours is very different to mine.

How’s it performed the last week or 2? Any disconnections whilst using Apple or Google maps?

Wow that is completely different.

Mines been solid so far using any of the map apps etc.

I guess we might assume that Mercedes will now update your firmware or if not, replace your complete head unit with the latest version?
