I think when it says no playable media, it's because the car is seeing the phone for it's storage, as a flash storage device.



When you use spotify, you're outputting sound, so it's playing it.



I think if you're expecting to play music you've got in iTunes, try playing it with iTunes and see if it plays like Spotify does?

As strange as it sounds I don't have music on my phone as I use spotify lol, it's not really that I want it's the txt messaging and Siri etc, it has built in sat nav via the memory card, CarPlay is heavily advertised on this model yet nobody seems to have used it a simple search on tap talk shows loads of people using it in Hondas etc but not merc [emoji33]

Car play is not installed from the factory yet however they are set up to be updated when it is available. Should be in the next few months I am guessing.

Official MBUSA email said "Not planned to be offered in 2015".

I would guess the same worldwide?

Says its compatible in several countries in this model including UK [emoji10]

I know, but on the US forums it says it was meant to arrive in early 2015 as a firmware upgrade in early 2015 but Mercedes have had issues with it, and their response was "Not planned to be offered in 2015".

I see..: don't know why manufacturers release video's etc of it working then go from 2014 to early 2015 then to no 2015 it's ridiculous!! Guess I will have to wait then [emoji85]

I can't see any mention of CarPlay on the UK website anymore, not in any brochure either.

I know Mercedes were showing it off at the shows last year and hyping it, but all reference to it now seems to have disappeared.
Have you got a list of your options when you ordered? Is it on there?

Will need to check although I'm sure it was in the brochure when I ordered! It's frightening that their own dealer network know nothing about CarPlay that said it all really haha!

I got a 66 plate C250d and needless to say I was disappointed to see CarPlay not fitted. I am sure I read somewhere that it is just not a software update but also a USB has to be configured for it? That is the microphone for Siri commands.

That said I have noticed that the the USB's in the centre box react differently with my iPhone? Noticing this when I press and hold the voice command button Siri works! It only works on one of the USB ports.

So imo it looks like the hardware is ready, I just need the software.
