Apple CarPlay

I've just taken delivery of a new GLE Coupe 350d which, according to Mercedes-Benz marketing, should support Apple CarPlay. I have Googled, searched YouTube etc but can't seem to get this working. Anybody have a similar experience or know of a solution?

Seems it will be on the 2016 A-Class, and then the 2016 Class.

Although, as you say, information is sparse.

CarPlay is an £800 option on my next car but to be honest I am not convinced.

- the phone has to be connected via cable
- it uses Apple Maps for navigation
- it consumes a lot of data, not a problem with unlimited data in the UK but when roaming?
- what happens when there is no phone signal? You lose the navigation
- I don't really use Siri anyway

With manufacturers navigation and voice control systems currently being quite good, is it really needed?
