Hi!
Looked about and seen a few threads relating to apple CarPlay. I’ve just switched to an iPhone 11 from a Samsung galaxy S8 and have just gone to use CarPlay for the first time to be met with this monstrosity of colours and not being able to even make out what was on screen 924F15E4-36FB-4838-8FCE-A8E6CC3D39A4.jpeg

I’ve seen people say it’s the cable etc but it’s a brand new cable and I’ve even used another cable with the same effect.

the weird thing is it works perfectly well with Android auto! D7979249-93C5-4D69-B660-D0AA36E02285.jpeg

Has anyone else encountered this? And are there any known solutions?

apologies for no evidence, file sizes were too large to upload

cheers!

Hi,
I had a similar issue with Android Auto (Apple car play was perfect), and my issue was solved by a software update.
The quality of the leads do make a difference and apparently also the length of them.
If you are sure of the quality of the lead (eg you have a short branded one not a 1.99 one from Amazon or Ebay). then maybe worth considering to see if there is a software update available for your stereo.

Thanks for the reply!

do I have to take this into a MB garage to get this done or is it something I can do?

You will need to connect it to online STAR which generally only the main dealers have.
Do you happen to have an extended warranty on the car? As I bought mine with 12 months warranty, and blagged them i was having issues with the system dropping the bluetooth connection for the phone and they updated under the warranty.
Though to be fair as this was done under lockdown, and by the time they updated it started to develop a small barely noticeable issue with DAB reception.
Any operational issues with the Command system they will always start by updating the software to see if the issue is resolved.
I take it you're car has Apple Car play/Android Auto on youre data card? and it hasnt been installed by an OBD Plug in device?

My advice is:

1. Update the software on the iPhone if need be.

2. Power-cycle the iPhone (this is a must!)

3. Power-cycle COMAND/Audio20 (pull the fuse)

4. Use another USB cable (even if you are certain the cable is good)

5. Update the firmware on COMAND/Audio20 (at a dealer or specialist)

Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Turns out the CarPlay has to run in conjunction with the “Mercedes me” app and my version wasn’t fully setup. I have since done this and it is working perfectly well
