Just got reply from my sales guy

Good morning,

Thanks for the email regarding the rear axle oil change/service.

I have double checked just to make sure, this service is no longer required since May 2019, however the axle oil will need changing at the third service or 31000 miles.

I hope that clarifies this for you.

Have a good day"

My car was built 28th April 2019....

Mine E63s in September. This oil thing seem to be something no one in MB knows 100%. You'd think there is an easy database where they look up the VIN or have bloody leaflets somewhere about it. If a car like mine has it in the handbook, how hard is it to add a piece of paper saying 'ignore'.

Questioned with dealer and got this

"
Yes it is a bit confusing as the book still has it mentioned. If the cars had a sticker in the windscreen stating the oil change was needed then those cars were affected, however this changed in May last year so your car is ok.

Hope this helps

I’ve read threads where the car had the sticker, but didn’t need the oil change. Mostly upsets the customer.

Shouldn't be that hard to release an advisory to explain that and make sure each dealer got it :-/

After weeks a reply from AMG by mail :

Thank you for contacting Mercedes-AMG.

I can confirm the Rear Axle Differential oil change has not been completed on your E 63 AMG S as it is no longer required on AMG vehicles. Unfortunately some of our literature still makes reference to the oil change, however, I can assure you this is no longer required, hence why it was not completed. I hope this offers you peace of mind.

Yours sincerely

Smacks of more cost cutting by MB...unless they changed something in the diff, like the oil spec....

I would just get it done for peace of mind if you’re keeping it.

Could be the difference between a worn diff in 80k miles or one that runs as new.

Sounds a bit like where MB for a while specified that auto trans fluid on the 722.6 boxes was sealed for life, no service interval etc. Probably fine for the first owner..!

.Whether it was previously a staff car or demonstrator isn't really a factor with that sort of mileage. I don't think there's anything sinister there.

MB salespeople tend to describe all MB fleet cars as either 'ex-demonstrator' or 'management car'. But in reality there's no way of knowing if it's true, or the car was simply leased to a business customer as many MB cars are. But as E55BOF said above, it really makes no difference who the first owner was, the majority of cars will have the first owner showing as a finance company anyway (and that includes MB Fleet Management finance).

Sorry, was responding to the first posts... well done, it's a fine car!

when they sell them they put a long warranty on them and that anything that needs doing is sorted on them.
Maybe that’s the reason that Approved Used AMG come with a 2 year warranty 😳
