Deleted. Was going to give the next installment of my approved used dramas but will wait until I have progressed a little further with the various issues.

most probably supplying dealer reset the light, drove it round the block, all clear so they left it!

hopefully that will cure the problem, enjoy the car :)

Thanks :)

I'll report back properly once I have addressed with MBUK and had some other niggles attended to!

fyi ; when i bought my E55, it went back to the supplying dealer 5 times for different little niggles which they said they were going to sort out. I had the EML as well after 2 mnths of owning it and it was the secondry air pump relay, my local dealer wanted me to pay for the whole pump unit and the supplying dealer said thats rubbish and low loadered it 180 miles back to them, fitted a relay and delivered it back to me. its been fine since

What really irks me about main dealers is that they have Star, Specialist mechanics and every tool under the sun yet they still fail to be able to resolve issues at the first port of call in the proper manner.

... and they still charge you handsomely for their failed work.

Good to hear I'm not the only one going through this painful process of having serious niggles attended to!

Service seems to be very variable depending on the dealer from excellent to atrociously bad. My supplying delaer seems to fall into the latter category, with little respect for my custom and even less respect for my time which is a shame.

I'll have another go at getting everything up to standard at this new dealer I used today and hopefully get to a point where I can have several years hassle free motoring. At the moment I am just regretting getting rid of my CLK which was hardly any bother for the 6 years I owned it :(

Don't get me started on approved used they are an absolute joke

Exactly - not many professions where you could get away with that!

Then there are the issues that they want to bury their heads in the sand over. Rust? What rust.

Did I tell you the time I looked at a MBAU CLS on a dealer forecourt and was pounced on by the fruit in a suit ?

I asked him what he'd give me for my S500 as a part-exchange.

He replied "Probably not a lot, it's got a bit of rust"

I laughed and told him that proved the rust warranty was a joke.

I walked away.

As far as I can tell, MB based their entire reasoning upon how many owners my Xreg CLK230Komp had had, when arguing that rust is a part of life.

No mention made of the change in panel supplier/ manufacturer at precisely the time the car was made. 18 months earlier or later and CLK's are generally rust free. This is because the alloy used to make the panels from contained less copper (expensive). Tut tut MB.

Their reasoning lacked honour and had they dealt with the rust effectively, I would still be driving that car.

So rust is like an STD ? More partners, more risk ?

What a load of ******** from a main dealer. Transfer of ownership is paperwork. The car remains the same.
