Hi guys, wondering if i can pick some ones brain as I am running out of ideas of how to attack this problem.

I have just bought a 2003 E270cdi Classic that was fitted with Sat Nav upon purchase. The guy selling it said it needed a software update to the latest version for it to work again.
It pick s up 5-6 satellites and provides co-ordinates. However when you press the map button, the Sat nav still thinks it is in Oxford when the car is actually 150 miles from there. When setting a destination, it allows you to do that but confuses itself by starting from Oxford ?

Not sure if this is connected or not but when driving and the radio is on, every now and again the radio cuts out for a split second. I thought this could be a bad earth connection somewhere as it only happens when driving and not stationary ?

The Dvd player also reads some dvd's and not others ? I have turned on all regions in the Engineers menu, so not sure what is going on really.

I've had the unit out to see if there were any loose wires but the only connection to the back of the unit was secure. There appears to be an Orange fibre optical wire coiled up that doesn't appear to go anywhere ?

There is a DIN connection on the rear of the unit that has no connection to it and there is also what appears to be a small female connection that looks like it should connect to an arial, but again has no input feed from the car ?

Sorry to drone on, but Iam a complete newbie, any help on this matter would be very much appreciated

Should be a gps antenna connected directly to the unit. The fibre connection goes to the audio gateway in the boot. Disconnect power from the headunit for 5 mins or so. It should show no sats if there is no gps antenna connected and that is why it thinks it in in oxford.

does it make any difference if its an estate as to where the audio gateway is? What does the connection look like for the gps antenna ?

Thanks for your help :bannana:

Where is the Navigation drive and GPS Antenna on the E class estate

I have discovered through looking at pictures on the web that I have a Comand APS head unit and not the APS 50 that I thought.

Ive been trying to locate the GPS antenna in the rear of the boot, both left and right hand side. I haven't been able to find it or the navigation processor/drive.

Does anyone have any ideas where to find these on the Estate version of the E class.
I have intermittent satellites received on the display also. Any help would be appreciated:crazy:

Pretty sure its the same saloon or estate. The guides to remove the boot trim are on www.mercupgrades.com

Can't be there I've had the whole boot stripped out and still can't find it. The AGW isn't tucked up in the awkward place where I'd expect either. Normally in the rear of the boot positioned in the inner wing almost.
Any other ideas from anyone as to the location. Pretty sure it's the NTG1 with the DVD player above the screen and I believe there should be a navigation drive somewhere also ?????
I am lost
