Guys I need some clarity on wheels

I want the AMG monobloc two piece like this part numbers
F: 18x8.5" ET25
Part#A1294001602/B66031003

R: 18x10" ET25
Part#A1294001802/B66031004

with the deeper sholder at the rear as I feel these really "make" the car however the same dealer also has these

part numbers
F: 18x8.5" ET25
Part#A1294001402/B66031010

R: 18x10" ET25
Part#A1294001802/B66031004

at nearly £1000 less - i noticed the rears are the same but £1000 saving on the front ??? what can be the diff \? BTB are these your wheels ?

If funds (and fund holder) dont stretch its these which are slightly smaller ?!

part
F: 18x8" ET31
Part#A1294001902/B66031007

R: 18x9" ET35
Part#A2104000202/B66031001

If I get the two pieces do i need the arches rolled ? does the tyre company know this ? do I have to get the body modded first ?

Do Alloywheels direct offer any "enthusiast" discount :) they seem to be the supplier of choice to these parts (are there are any further North that can be recommended)

Sorry to be so un genned up but I dont want to spend a few £k and get hassle

TIA

Dave

What are the existing 16" wheels? Decent tyres? Original Mercedes? Can you tell I am fishing here to find out what you might be doing with them once you get some replacements?

You'll need the arches rolling with any of those wheels. Send a PM to Murray Systems, it's his website after all!

These wheels - I cant remember is all tyres are contis but will check - pending an RAC inspection I get it at the weekend.

I think she had other wheels on as they are like new but showroom lights etc etc

Can I PM on my lowly thread count ? I will try to google Murray Systems but a URL would be great

Ah sorry Stats - you mean the tyre co is his site not the forum - DOH!

I didnt think you would need to roll the arches on the R129's as they are generally quite big anyway.......

i have seen wheels of that size put on a standard SL and no work was required?

All cars with factory-fit AMG wheels have the arches rolled. The procedure is laid out in WIS for retro-fitting.

That may well be the case but i dont think its essential for this to be done to fit any of those wheels.

A freind of mine had 16" rims and upgraded to 18" of the above size and he did not roll the arches, he also lowered it too by about 35mm and his car is fine.

IIRC im sure KLP 92 and Aka$h have both had these size wheels on 129's without rolling the arches....

Im not saying that WIS doesnt say this but i dont think that you "Need" to have this done to fit the wheels.

Have you got a picture of one with rolled arches? The SL60 and SL73 images I've found look the same as my car, possibly because the difference is too subtle for me to spot.

I have had a reply from Chris at alloys direct that it will be ok without the rolled edge, as such once car arrives I will probably get the set he has in stock and tyres to match - its a nice change to get quick informed answers - pity he doesnt sell the cars !!

Ooh, same as mine, and my favourite style. I might be interested in buying them from you once you get the new alloys and keeping my existing for a winter set. Shame they don't make them in a 17" or 18" size.. :(

Ok NV - will keep you updated - Im sure we can work something - I want to get the car here and check them out before I advise any more detail.

Of course. That's very kind of you. PM's are available after 30 posts.. almost there, then we can sort something out that way.

£1300 and no centre caps! That always strikes me as a bit much considering.. I'm not a fan of polished rims and besides, one of those (the rear?) looks as if there's a dent in it, right at the bottom!

You wouldn't be able to tell without looking up into the wheelarch. Instead of a 90 degree bend for the arch lip it's rolled up to around 30 degress I think.

Bill, the top pic probably has the old-spec bolts, where the head is on a long shank. They're nasty, have a habit of snapping.

You'll need a big toothbrush with those wheels.. ...I took a replica set off my 60 and replaced them with the one's in my avatar...looks nice (I think) and no need for a tooth brush! :)

I treated them with Autoglym alloy wheel seal before I fitted them and the car doesn't get used an awful lot, so I'm hoping they won't be too bad.
