Hi all
My first post,
I'm now £950 worse off but the proud owner of a red 93 E300d 130000K FSH nice cond.:D
But it needs glow plug\s and wears the outside of the front tyres (could just be tracking but its a bit low on the front)

Any way I've noiced on e-bay sets of glow plugs for 25-30 quid, has anyone tried them or know if they are any good.
Its a few years since I've had a diesel and Beru or Bosch used to be the ony ones to fit.

Also it has no rear head rests and a larger than normal tank, seems an odd spec has anyone else had one similar.

Cheers
Phil

geru and bosch

are stocked by gsf , kms parts birmingham and eurocarparts and all pretty reliable for most spares.

Welcome to the friendliest forum. You will get a lot of information on here and if you need work doing then Ian B Walker (a member on here) is 124works near Preston and comes recommended.

If you go here and enter your VIN number it will tell you just what the car was sold with!!

Fel free to post the detail (deleting the VIN of course) and some pics as is tradition :)

Enjoy!

Update

Hi all
Bought bosch glow plugs, the first five plugs came out easy and were newish, but number 6 was very tight, I think who ever changed the last time couldn't et it out so left it .

Guess what happened, yup I got t half way out and then it snapped:eek:
head off job now:mad: then down tothe machine shop for a skim and helicoil.

The inlet manifold and ports arent half clogged as well.

I'll post photos and stuff when its done, I'm a bit pi**ed off with it at the moment

Has the plug snapped off with all the thread removed or is some still left in?

Try pouring coke or vinegar down the hole to dissolve the carbon that's trapping the plug.

Hi diesel man,
I got it about half way out before it snapped just below the bolt flats, it was very tight tho, I'd put 2 bottles of Forte cleaner in the oil, ran diesel cleaner through, soaked it overnight in releaseoil, then overnight in coke, even then it took a LOT of pressure with a half inch drive to even move it.

Its hard to get into number 6 to get hold of the threaded stump even if I could loosen it.

In saying that I'll give nything a go that means not taking the head off, I dont like the ook off it one bit :(
