Are German Paints Different?

I have found this really interesting discussion on a US website about German paints. Apparently they are different to many other automotive manufacturers finishes and therefore require slightly different treatment.

You will also see they mention the use of the Flex dual action polisher, this is the German version of the Porter Cable. (See thread http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=6997 for more information on these polishers and how to get hold of one)

Last time I looked, MB were using Glasurit paint. Used/sold all over the world, so I am not sure that there was any difference amongst countries.....

I imagine that if domestic manufacturers are using something like Dulux Autocolour, then basic care may be different between the types. Different preparation, tinting, application, bake, etc.
