Just read a thread where a car was referred to as "he".

Do you assign a gender to your car and if so, what have you chosen?

Mine "goes like a train"

Guess it therefore depends which way you might be inclined :D

Mine's a "she"

We choose a name for our car (usually derived from the registration number), which then determines the sex:

Our ML is Milly and as such is a girl.
Our C is Nobby and as such is a boy.

Previous cars I can still remember the name of:
Our Omega was Ollie and was therefore a boy.
My Corsa was Colin and was therefore a boy.
My Nova was Sue and was therefore a girl.

Forgotten the rest - it would appear I only remember the names we give to Vauxhalls and MBs!! :D

In our household it is either 'the merc' or 'the heap'.
Don't think either are masculine or feminine.

The only one I can recall having a name was my lovely old Jensen Healey which was called Jenny (not very imaginative I know!).

My father was in the Navy and the Merchant Marine and so I learnt that vessels are always female because you get into them and must place your trust in them.

Accordingly my cars have always been given feminine names, usually after the colour. My Aston Martin is Esmeralda because she is Emerald Green and my Mercedes is Alma because she is Almandine Black.

Mine is definately Masculine, whilst I have'nt gone as far as naming it, but I do think of the car as 'The colonel' as it seems to fit with my image of the previous owner, a respectable and upright gentlemen of retirement age.

i dont really name my cars.... my wife reckons all the cars i have are male - always big things..... the previous owner of my 280SL though named it Molly (or something like that) and was almost in tears when i drove it away.....

now i'm the one in tears as its in bits in my garage! lol

i have a few names for it ....

seriously, the SL is probably more of a "she" than my 124. i dont name them though and both are referred to "it"

mine are just called "Car" when behaving and "Start you *******" when they are not. :D

I was beaten to it by the Aussies the with their version of damp start.

Some cars are easy..........
Nissan Capachino - female
Nissan Micra - female
All Lamborghinis - male
Hummer - male
VW Beetle - female (specially the convertible)
Mercedes - mainly male - specially AMG's

Generally I think is percieved as small, cutesy cars are female and larger more aggresive cars are male.

I have never given any of my cars names.

Wifes c class, well i cant say what i call it, to small would be a polite start and its all downhill from there im afraid:D

I remember car names from when I was much, much younger.

Ford Zephyr - WWM246 - William (and i bet that plate would be worth a bit, specially for a William born on 24th June)

Ford Corsair - DFY335C - Daffy
Peugeot 504 - AKD173K - Pussy (from purrrr....geot)
My first car - Hillman Imp HFR7E - Wendy. (There was a girl called Wendy Hillman......)
My first new car.... Ford Fiesta SDL431X - Sid Little

My first van, second van, third van, fourth van & fifth van.... all shared the same name... "the ***t heap"
Sixth van, bought new, P809SEV.... had no name.

Various cars, since then, no names. I've just bought my daughter her first new car.... the naming process has started again.

Kia Rio.... LK 09 MZY...... LK = "Leanne's Kia", MZY = "Missy"

The cars we have owned are all Female, but I found out to my surprise that Hubby was shocked when I referred to her as 'her' lol
I think it's natural - I've never thought of my cars as masculine!
