Are these centre caps genuine?

Spose for £13.50 you could buy known genuine one's from Inchcape and then 'compare the centre caps dot com'!

If the first lot are toss then wack back through paypal or shove em on Fleabay.

£13.50 each... I dont really want to be throwing anoter £50 away if I dont have to.

They look fine Spike, I know the idea of having fake anything on a car goes against the grain, however, if they fit and look OK....

Apart from the obvious issues with whether they fit properly or not, can I ask if the genuine MB ones are significantly better quality than some of the copies going about, bearing in mind that they are significantly dearer?

The reason I ask is that I bought a set of copies off Ebay for about 15 quid some 12 months ago, they fitted perfectly and indeed still do. The only issue I have with them is that after almost weekly cleaning the wheels with a proprietary wheel cleaner, the silver finish on the star has started to come off on the front ones. In fact it's gone a bit brown, almost like rust- I know it's plastic but that's what it looks like.

Now my question is if I had bought genuine MB caps are they that much better that will resist tarnishing by wheel cleaning solutions and brake dust and therefore justify the extra cost?

Your advice as always welcome :confused:

Speaking as someone who buys these on a regular basis from an Authorised Mercedes parts supplier, the caps shown are exactly the same as the last set I bought

If they came from the supplier I think you mean why would he want to risk his reputation by selling non-genuine parts? Particularly when the difference in price between genuine and non-genuine is a couple of pounds

Stick them on. Don't worry. Small woodland creatures will come out hibernation early to point and snigger as you drive past. Then long after the rest of the car has turned to rust they will be left as four shining monuments to the great Chinese entrepreneurial spirit.

They look genuine to me. But why don't you double confirm by popping to your local MB Dealer Parts Desk and ask them to see a set as if your interested to buy. Then compare.

They all look genuine to me! The first picture is exactly the packaging they now come in..

Thanks Jay - I think you may have answered the initial question.

The lack of Mercedes packaging is what threw me - especially given the fakes come with a Mercedes Label and the real ones dont.
