MERCEDES C CLK E SLK CLASS REAR WHEEL HUB NEW GERMAN | eBay UK

I've been told I need one. MB are quoting £58+vat for the part, so this one seems a good price.

Just wondering how difficult they are to fit. Is it a DIY job or are specialist tools required? Is it a case of old one off, new one on, or will other parts require replacing whilst it's dismantled?

Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers.

Look at the post in this section by Frank O Phile, it should give you a good idea of what you are in for. I do not think that the anatomy of rear hubs varies widely other than the various radius arms and torsion bars which are usually dealt with in similar fashion.

Hi,
I have recently had a rear wheel bearing done on my C43, the hubs on a w202 and w208 have identical pt. no.'s, IIRC you will have to remove the entire hub assembly from the car to do this and is an absolute "Pig" of a job to do, you will have to replace the rear wheel bearing as well.
Its a good 2-3 hour job at a garage.
Whats wrong with your original?

I've been told it's worn and is the cause of the noise coming from the rear wheel. The bearing was replaced last year, so that should be okay.

Hi,
I have just looked at the EPC and the Haynes manual, it "looks" like you can remove it without removing the whole hub carrier, though, it will require removal of the brake caliper, disc, and possibly the handbrake shoes, remove the driveshaft nut, then you should be able to remove the hub, if this is the case i would say about an hours labour.
Maybe someone else can confirm this

Thanks Andy. Can anyone confirm Andy's thoughts?

The part arrived today. :) Got some interest in the sale of my CLK, so want to make sure it's tip-top befor letting her go! :)
