Are these the Mercedes dreaful years/cars?

I have scanned the thread with interest, understandably the vast portion seem to be older models. I only see I response or reply to the W220 and only one note of the W221 with a (?) in the initial thread.

I wonder what that tells me, is no one thinking that the newer S Class needs closer inspection, or do so few S Class drivers have an opinion, nowadays. Maybe because they are so satisfied with there vehicle !

I'm sorry but I've missed your point. :(

Sorry to see you missed my point JJJ, the initial thread asked thoughts on the various models that MB have produced covering many years.

The point is that there are lots of varied opinions good, bad etc on almost every model except recent S Class models, I was wondering if anyone might explain that reason and their thoughts, as I do believe there must be some of us S Class owners out there with an opinion. that read and respond in this forum.

BTW my man is off for the weekend !!!!!!!!

They choose to make the CLA and that can never be right. It wouldn't look right with a Geely badge on it.

The only thing wrong with the CLA is that it's FWD, I really like the shape, very striking.

There is also a 4x4 CLA.

4matic or at least AWD... you make it sounds like a Land Rover :D

(I like them)

Well, as far as I know it's no different than the Audi 4x4 cars. And AWD and 4x4 are synonyms as far as I know too. :D

Quattro

x-Drive

AWD

Even the best 4x4xfar call it 4WD

:)

I think 4x4 tends to refer to off-roaders but obviously could apply to any 4WD car...

Which one do you have MM85 ? Sorry I forgot you don't have one yet. I've got a 203,211 and a 212. All brilliant.

The first time owner of a 1999 A class has a sense of occasion to owning a Merc just as much as an sclass owner. None of them are rubbish and will always be the car people aspire to having.

Maybe they (he or she) are short of things to do, oh well what ever gives them 'kicks'.

This is what I'm thinking as well. 4x4 could apply to any 4WD car. 4matic, Quattro etc are just marketing terms or variations of the same thing, which is a car with traction on the 4 wheels. Now I get that AWD may not necessarily mean 4x4 if the vehicle in question has 6 wheels for example. But apart from that I don't see the hang up on using the term 4x4 for a Merc. But to each his own.

Ha,ha. He'll never buy but I wish he would as there only so much anybody can say about one particular car.

I think the old method of buying a car and keeping it if you like it is best!

I sold several that I really liked, something wrong with me? ;) In fact I liked a few of them even more after selling them. :D

I am giving up selling - now only buying - that's why I need to move.

And If you can't have the one you love, love the one you have.

I am also single

I now have extra space that could accommodate two or three cars and I know what I want too.

I'm not single...:(

I used to generally have four or five cars at any given time , stored at different locations - however , due to getting it in the neck from SWMBO and other family members with whom I stored some of them , my fleet has now been reduced to two .

I still have a notion to get either another 123 or 124 estate , or a G Wagen , for use as a load carrier/tow car , but that will be subject to negotiation .
