This may seem like a stupid issue/question...but i need to vent and hopefully there i siome miracle cure

So this morning, before going to work, I had to get my Tax disc, of which I just laid my new tax disc on top of as I couldn't be bothered to open up tax disc holder.

The previous owner had one of those metal "Mercedes" holders. It is placed between the windscreen and dash.

Well it is completely wedged between the dash and windscreen. I spent 10mins trying to get the damn thing out, and no luck. One of the screws of the holder was protruding, so i used a key to try and leverage it out...PING went the screw head but it did move the tax disc holder some way out.

Yet, it still remains stuck. Think of spraying some water on it? Maybe with a touch of washing-up liquid? But concerned that I don't want water getting into any electrics that may be down there.

Also I don't want to end up cracking the windscreen!

Any ideas?
Cheers

Hi,

It's not glued on, it does have rubber bits are the front to make it grip, but i think that's it.

I hate it soo much!

Only fine blade I can think of small enough to get down there is a razor blade, and being double edged...might do considerable damage to my fingers!

Dental floss ?

Feed it round and then pull it tight , should chop it off .

Do you not just twist the back of the panel and it comes off or am i not understanding how it is stuck?

use two ends of a hanger, twisted open, as i think there is a little notch on the front side, slide in ur hanger with a little curved edge, then twist it, and then pull it out.. or yank it out if adhesives are strong..

I dental floss doesn't do the trick I'll try this.

I'm not sure on the space beneath the bottom of the holder and the top of the dash...as it's wedged down reasonably far.

I've no idea how it got there in the first place.

Are you sure it doesn't just twist to unsrew, leaving a ring on the screen but allowing you to swap the tax disc before screwing it back in place?

sorry if this isnt explained clearly enough previously, but half of the tax disc holder is wedged between the dash and windscreen, consequently the back cannot be turned or unscrewed.

hope that clears that up.

I think the best suggestion so far has to be dental floss.
The only difficulty you may have is feeding it all the way round the holder.
If you can get your hands on soem fine steel wire, that might do the trick.

Or a hairdryer or heat gun to try and soften the glue so that you can pry it off the windscreen.
