My turn to have a rant! :)

Noticed this on my front bumper when washing my car today :(

Not sure when it has been hit it as I only saw it today, but it certainly wasn’t there when I washed it on Thursday. I left it parked on a London street whilst at a restaurant and this may have been when it was hit, that or whilst parked in a local industrial estate.

The car still has all original paint on it so it’s really annoying. No details were left of course :(

I will be going to my bodyshop to see how much of it can be polished out, but I’m not too hopeful. I think the bumper will need to be resprayed. :(

Has anyone been able to polish out similar damage?

Just had the car fully MOP’d a few weeks ago and it was near immaculate.

Rant over!

Oh no nothing worse than that sinking feeling [emoji30]

The blue paint should t-cut out to make it more bearable and a scuff specialist should be able to fix, you have my sympathy, I curbed one of my diamond cut wheels last week but at least I had myself to blame [emoji25]

Unlucky. Some just don't have a conscience.

If you can get your finger nail in a scratch, it's too deep to polish out.
That said, the majority may well polish out, leaving just the odd few deeper scratches that can be touched in.
Painting plastic bumpers properly is an art in itself.

Thanks guys, I will look into getting a polisher and some cutting compound. :) Will also have a word with my bodyshop and post an update. I’d prefer to try polish it out as I’d like to preserve the original paint.

Thankfully it’s not too noticeable but it will drive me insane as the rest of the car is near immaculate for its age! :) (excuse the parking I only stopped to take this pic lol!)

:( Ah that’s annoying Kev, I’d dab some clear lacquer on the damaged area for the time being to stop any corrosion!

I had something similar last year in the airport car park. Went to the local Mercedes dealer’s body shop who said they could do a smart repair. I was sceptical as it’s Palladium Silver. Anyway, let them have a go and they did a perfect job, spraying in the corner and blending to the rest of the bumper. £200

Had a scrape on my CLS rear bumper that was too deep to polish out. Local body shop removed the bumper and painted for £260.

Fabulous job, can’t tell the difference from original paint and they swapped out the parking sensors whilst bumper was off which id been meaning to get done for ages.

I had similar damage inflicted in a car park. £150 to respray when done at the same time as my bonnet ...... so prob around £200 as a one off job (I got a discount for bonnet and bumper combined)

Try a small tube of T Cut first, there appears to be more of the other vehicles paint on there than anything else.

Most of that will polish out. The white marks will remain but appear reduced.

Car will definitely need some paint though. Should be fairly easy to match well. T cut is too harsh for modern paint, will leave some micro scratches. Try something like meguiars ultimate compound first but ideally it needs a machine polish with a compound and then refinement with a finishing polish to remove buffer trails

Thanks chaps,

I’ve had a think and reckon it’s sensible to take the opportunity to have the bonnet + front bumper resprayed as the 165k motorway miles have inflicted a fair few stone chips :D

Man maths at its finest.... lol

Visited my usual bodyshop and he polished it as best as he could as a temporary solution and will arrange a few days to drop the car off for the bodywork next month. :)

CLK320x - that’s what I did in January this year. Bonnet was chipped and dinged. Bumper scuffed. Had it all done in one hit and the car is now back to A1! Well worth the cost (I paid £420 all in)!

That’s a really good price mate! :) Are you happy with the finish?

Car looks stunning. People just have no respect anymore. Hope you get it sorted ,sure you will.

What year is your car? Looks fantastic :thumb:

Thanks for your kind words, it’s a late 2009 :)

After you’ve cleaned and polished it out some WD.40 on, that’ll mask it till you get it repaired
