armrest phone charger tray

has anyone bought or used one of those phone charger trays that fit inside the armrest storage ? they are on ebay from china and quite cheap compared to the Benz site .

looks like the tray has a short cable with usb connector however on digging further you would have to take your phone out of any case its in for the back of the phone to charge perhaps ? it seems a good bit of kit and negates the use of a charger wire plugged in to the lighter socket with the drawer lid open . sat on the fence as to getting one tho !!

I have the UHI phone prep in the centre arm rest of my car, and have the appropriate cradle for my phone - and as you say, it means I cannot keep my phone in a case and connect it to the cradle. However, as I have a decent screen protector on the phone and carry it in a top shirt or jacket pocket I prefer the convenience of having it plugged into its cradle to having it in a case!

Hi , is yours a genuine MB tray or one purchased elsewhere ? im a bit wary of chinese imported one as maybe a heat or fire issue possibly , just me being cautious !!

My cradle is genuine MB for my iPhone 4, purchased second hand from eBay Germany. However, it fits onto the UHI connector in the centre arm rest and gets its power supply from there, so if you haven't got that it's no good!

Just looked at the eBay link, how does that get a power supply? Suggest you have a word with comand.co.uk - have your VIN handy so they can look up the build sheet for your car - they'll be able to tell you what's possible.

I think the power supply is the usb cable attached to it as in the photo .
