Missed a call last night, and Virgin sent me a text message to say a voicemail had been left for me, but then wouldn't let me connect.

Tried again this morning, and received something along the lines of:

"Mr Dazzler. This is the Warden at XYZ Caravan Site. I may have to cancel your booking for this Sunday."

That was pretty much it. No ever-so-sorry or anything else to sweeten it - not even an explaination.

I called the site, and the message said:

"We're closed. Please leave a message."

No specific message to say there's a problem.

I called the central booking line and they advised they were unaware of any problems, but it could be the rain.

Acts of god are out their control, but they could have tipped me off with more than two days notice!!

So, what should we do to replace it? Suggestions please...

oh no... get on the phone and book somewhere else?

On a lot of our caravan holidays we never booked in advance as we never knew where we would be... we just drove from site to site until one had vacancies.

Just set up camp on some disused ground/field/car park, that's what some people do... :p:eek:

Borrow an old diesel transit, some XL propane gas bottles, a loud barking dog and hang some washing outside and no-one will question it! :D:D

Push the caravan off a cliff ( go there during the night though so as not to clog up the roads for us normal people ;) ) ....

    Then book into a nice H O T E L .....

    Ahh, the Rainbow!!

I stayed in the Hotel opposite (The Toorak) about 5 times a year and every Christmas as an adolescent, and frequented the nightclub beneath the rainbow whilst scouting for girls.

Can't think what it was called now?? Think it was a bingo hall last time I was in Torquay.

Dieselman must know - he knows all the same dodgy nightclubs as me - a la Bel Air at the Belfry!!

UPDATE: Returned my call. It's due to the rain apparently. Tried other sites in Cornwall and they're having to cancel people too.

To be fair they did say we could still go if we had scuba gear. And I have an air intake plug for the ML to increase wading depth - could be an opportunity to get it out of the box!!

Phoned about 20 places over lunch but gave up - not very motivating, not what I needed with loads of last-day-at-work stuff to do!!

Will get phoning round this evening...

    Good luck finding somewhere else.

I'm just back from France (not with the van) but off to the Lakes in September.

    People simply don't understand caravaners....

    Good luck
