ASR- 1995 sl320 R129

Morning all,

Currently in Provence concluding a 3 month holiday during which I have purchased a 1995 R129 SL320 with 55k miles...unseen and to be collected next week!
I can't find an answer to the following question - will this model come with ASR ?
Thanks to all and I will post pictures etc once I have it in my possession...

Hi & welcome - yes, it will have ASR. M-B introduced that in the mid '80s IIRC.

Excuse moi and is it correct to assume that this system is/can be problematic? Or if it works does it just work...or is it fickle?

AFAIK it just works ... I don't recall reading of many (any?) problems on the R129 or anything else. My '97 has ASR (ESP became standard later on).

...Thank you Bill this is helpful information.The trouble with having too much time on one's hand (on holiday) and access to the internet is that you read all sorts, much of it I suspect is rubbish!
I collect the car on Sunday thus once I have cleaned it and worked out the inevitable snagging list I will offer pictures and an update...
The owner,nice chap ,and local Mercedes Specialist whom knows the car says it's a good one...we shall see?
