ASR Light on

Had my car fixed yesterday by Phil James of Finchampstead (near Wokingham).

He took the ABS modulator apart and repaired it.

I am going to have to give it a few days and see if all is okay but the light didn't come back on yesterday or this morning so fingers crossed.

If any of you have any electrical problems at all I would definately recommend Phil. He has all the Merc diagnostics and specialises in ecu's

I still have got no further on this due to my wedding coming up... she says its more important.. hmm dunno about that..

Sorry to hijack, but I've got an almost identical problem on a 2000X W202. BAS/ASR light comes on randomly and kills the throttle. Coast to the side of the road and restart the engine and it goes. Normally happens when slowing from 40-ish, no real coincidence with use of the brake.

Changed the brake switch already, no difference. On a 22 mile trip to work, some mornings it happens 3-4 times, another day it doesn't happen at all. Local indie has cleared what codes were on the car at last service, mentioned CAN-bus problem and to take it back if it keeps happening. Would be interested in any thoughts/possible causes.

On your car you have a completely different system... Luckily for you a lot easier to diagnose.

You will need the codes read properly but most likely to be Brake Light Switch or one of the wheel speed sensors.

p.s. my problem has all but dissapeared by itself... It will do it once in a blue moon but since its been garaged its been fine so I think there was some damp somewhere...
