My C220 CDI Sport had an A service on July 9th, right before I collected it from car dealership (non-Mercedes). However, when I look at Assyst Plus, it states the next service is due in 315 days, which seems about right, but is an A1. Shouldn't the next service be a B?

If it a makes a difference, it looks as though the service was completed by a regular garage, rather than an independent specialist or Mercedes dealership.

The car has a FSH. The service book is full and those were all with a Mercedes dealership. Subsequent services — apart from this one — have been done with the same independent specialist, and those invoices show the same alternation between A and B services.

It feels like it's been reset, because it's showing the next service being due in 315 days, so the times line up. It's just the type of service that's odd.

Is this the W204? They should all be on the MB Digital Service Book (DSB), and no longer have the paper service book of old, which was discontinued as of 2007.

See if you can get a printout of the DSB from you local Mercedes Benz dealer - you'll need to show them the V5C in your name, and an ID.

But also keeping in mind that some independent garages will have access to MB DSB and be able to update the service record online, while others won't.

Either way, come next service, I suggest that you take the car to a reputable specialist who will use STAR to reset the Service ASSYST Plus on the car correctly.

Thanks @markjay. Yeah, this is a W204, first registered in 2008.

I'll speak to my local dealership (Inchscape in Warrington) about getting a DSB printout. However, like I say, the service book is full and all the stamps are from a main dealer. They look to alternate between A and B services as you'd expect. The invoices from the independent specialist (2016 onwards, IIRC) state what service was carried out, and alternate between A and B. The only invoice I have that doesn't state the service type is the latest one that the dealer had done right before I bought the car. I assumed this was an A because the previous service was a B (the last one carried out by the specialist).

Going forward, I plan to use The German Car Specialists in Runcorn, who claim to have access to the MB DSB and their dealer-level software.

If you're in touch with a specialist already, you can ask them to email you a copy of the DSB.
