Before I start, I'm on my way to Budapest, currently in Frankfurt where i've got a days work, and then onto Vienna tomorrow, so maybe another tale to tell then :)

My car is loaded to the roof with gear, so i've been a bit reluctant to go past 110 due to the weight (4 Dell Servers, 3 Cisco routers, 2 laptops, suitcase, 2 APC power units, loads of cables, switches etc)

Anyway en-route to Frankfurt, on the autobahn in the middle lane (of three) and I can see a car approaching quickly in the fast lane. There is traffic in-front of me and in the fast lane to my left, so he had to slow by the side of me.

I pulled in behind him as he started to move forward, and we were sat in the flow of traffic at a steady 100MPH (cruising speed :D)

I could see the road clearing in both lanes ahead, and so did he, so as the car in front of him pulled over, he gunned it. Had a moments thought and I then nailed it too. From the badge on the boot lid, this was the modified 'GT' version of the vantage, which has more power than the standard DB7 Vantage from what I know (steve_bcs maybe able to clarify)

So we both hit the pedal and not much happened, I stayed even behind him up until approx 145MPH, and then I started to pull him in. By this time he had pulled into the middle lane still gunning it (that V12 sound!), and I was closing the gap. Got to 160MPH and I was on his rear, by 165MPH i was past, and from then on making more space between us :D :D

I slowed at 175 and he then came past me, off into the distance, but point was proved :D :D

Now, if only I didn't have all that extra weight I reckon I could have flown past him :D :D

Seeing as I missed topgear thats my entertainment for this evening :)

Matt.

hehe , sounds like an adventure alright :)

You didnt miss much with top gear , clarkston was racing the other two to oslo from london in a mclaren slr.

yep, the GT is a slightly enhanced vrsion of the standard db7 Vantage - more to do with handling than top speed I think.

I bet the driver was well Peed off being humbled by a lowly merc ;) I know I would be . I can only imagine what swear words were tripping of his tonge :D

Well done Matt - your car is really some motor
