I think you need to sit down with a cuppa or 5 for this one:

You may recall that the same poster did a "£5k" detail on his brand new astra VxR some time ago. Well, he's bought a new one, and this time he's truly made my eyes melt at the staggering detail that he's gone to to customise and detail his new car....just go look!

I will be testing the Astra VXR Nurburgring edition, head to head with the new Ford RS Focus later this month at the ring, both cars will be pitched against the Renault Meagne Sport R26 which is currently the fastest hot hatch production car around the ring. Will keep you posted on developments and will post what videos I am allowed to (due to confidentiallity clause) on You Tube as usual

Surely all that work claying etc is undone as soon as you drive out amongst the particles in the air?

Well i'm sure the white wheels keep him up all night...

The salesman came back slightly early and was shocked to find...

To be honest I was a little weirded out when I returned and found Marc entirely naked, covered in clay. I mean, I did think all this "Detailing" lark was utter toot, but I really couldn't understand his bond to the car.

Luckily, Marc grabbed a nearby towel and explained to the salesman

Well you see, this clay right, it's really expensive and comes from the foothills of a mountain in South America. I don't know which one, I was going to go once but as I left for the airport a seagull shat on my car and I couldn't bear to leave it. After a 5-hour repair detail the flight had departed, and my wife had left with the children. At least I could carry on the detail without further interruption.

Oh, the clay? Erm, yes. The heat of my body makes it go on better.

My two friends Paul Dalton aka Miracle and Macca my photographer decided that it would be a good idea to photograph every panel and document it so i had a photograph of every panel incase of dealership problems and as a record of what each panel looks like from new before correction...This was then saved to the Applemac..

Weapons grade.

:D :D :D :D :D

Do people who "detail" cars have girlfriends/wives?

"Now the car was ready for washing...I decided to wash in pure reverse osmosis water zero ppm in the dunk bucket and 50/50 pure and hot water in the shampoo bucket...Shampoo used to day is Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II and a pure sheepskin wash mitt which i thought id try after over a year using a special silicone free sponge and obviously grit guards in both buckets...Wheel brushed used are my 2" , 1.5" and 1" sheepskin drumsticks.."

Its a bloody astra..

No rings on any of his fingers...
But then again he might scratch the car!

Most people seem to concur that he is wasting his obsession on "ordinary" cars. I agree. I almost thought that it was a windup until I realised how many photographs were taken.

It's life Jim, but not as we know it.

well, I'm impressed. it may "just" be an astra, but it's his astra and the guy is proud of it. The car must look absolutely stunning at the end, concourse condition even.

I haven't got to the end of the pics but I'm assuming that towards the end, all his hard work was encased in some kind of carbonite protective material to keep things looking good for some time.

is it a lot of time/energy/money to spend cleaning a car? yes of course but good on him for doing it.

hey, I'd probably give him a ton to do mine like that :) [1]

[1] and looking at the amount of detail, he may well do this for a living and charge a hell of a lot more than that. this reminds me of the veyron detailing that they showed on top gear.

I think this one just about says it all !!!!!! You can imagine what the neighbours must be saying :D

Well I persevered and read down to the bottom of the page, it's then I noticed it was page one of 5......oh dear.

Did anyone notice the almost negligible depreciation in post #1? Mercedes would kill for numbers like that.

As a car sales manager, this has to be your worst nightmare, a chap checking the paint depth on the car....wow.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear....

You'd think after presumably sleeping with all those bottles, he'd have realised it's not called "zy...mol"

My brain exploded when I got to the bit about getting his exhaust pipe lined up

Hahaha, only using mineral water? removing the badges each time he cleans it?

He can come and do mine if he wants.

Three letters: O C D
