Has anyone used ATE Ceramic brake pads?

Good for low dust but probably don't offer any better braking .

Thanks - but are they equivalent to OE pads in all other aspects? I.E bite from cold?

Bound to be ECE R 90 , as are others .

Thanks - I wonder why everyone isn’t using ceramic pads now then? :dk: They seem like a win-win situation, less dust & equivalent/better stopping?!

Probably right for normal daily stop and go low speed commute but I’m not so sure they have any benefit on long trips with heavy breaking at high speed if not paired with adequate carbon ceramic brake disks.

Usually they cost a bit more .

Ordinary OE soon to be legislatively banned as per war on particulates , so should ordinary pollen filters which proves the point of it's about revenue and not health .

Ordered ATE Ceramics all round for my C32. :)

I've got ATE Ceramic pads on my C350 CDI. No difference in braking ability, feel etc etc BUT much less dust. I really like them.

Looks like you can only buy these (currently) with standard brake set ups, and not the sports packages with drilled discs. I suspect ATE have elected not to make them. Note this from their website:

"Technically it is possible to combine ATE Ceramic brake pads, with the PowerDisc or with perforated brake discs. The braking power with such a pairing is the same as with an original ATE brake pad or OE brake pad. However, when the two components interact they can generate more noise in braking. ATE Ceramic brake pads were developed for comfort-oriented drivers. We therefore recommend using them with normal brake discs, i.e. smooth ones."

Not good , strange one .

Got Sport drilled discs with Redstuff, no noise at all even when they were bedding in .

+ a performance advantage = win, win .

you can buy them for the 212 with sports package as well as my AMG.

When they are fitted I’ll let you know about any noise with the drilled :)

That would be great.
I've got a w212 with sports/drilled front brakes, but the ATE web catalogue doesn't list a ceramic pad for the sports package. Doesn't mean they don't make one that fits; they just don't list a compatible pad, I suspect for the reason above.
Rears aren't a problem as they are smooth discs, so they list a part number.

Do you have a part number for the front ceramic pads please?

How do you find them when cold.
I had some 'fast road' red pads on my Alfa, and I used to get regularly surprised when I drove the car from cold. Pulling up to the first junction; nothing from the brakes (I exaggerate slightly). Great once warm, but utter sH1t when cold.

Aren’t the ‘power discs’ grooved??

What year is your 212

My 2012 C350 CDI is a sport version with vented discs and I had no problems getting pads to suit.
No squeaks, good wear rate, good bite, good feel, no noticeable difference in heat fade - they've been on my car for 2 years and well over 35k atm. A full set for both front and rear cost me less than £140 from Eurocarparts. Love'em :D

They're not allowed to be poor when cold as ECE R 90 approved which means within 15% of OE .
