Hello,

Honestly, have done a pretty detailed search and though I did find a thread on the ATF change, that was for the W210 1997 and I doubt that applies to my vehicle.

I have decided to change the ATF & filter on my W210 E220 CDI 2000 (post face lift) for the following reasons:

(1) I find that when engaging D or R from N or P, the initial engage is rather harsh. No clunks etc. but I think it should be more gentle.

(2) Also, imtermittently, when coming to a stop, the gear shift down into first from second at near dead stop the vehicle kind of lunges forward a bit, similar to if the clutch in a MT was to be depressed and then let off suddenly with the engine slightly raised. Also similar to if you would tap the accelerator lightly prior to coming to a stop. Feels like the engine idling system tries to compensate a shut down. Makes coming to a dead stop at a traffic light with a car ahead a bit dicey.

(3) Have done 52Km.

(4) Don't know if the prevoius owner ever did an oil change.

(5) Have read elsewhere in the forum that there are no vacuum pipes connected to this box (722.6 I think) and that shifts are entirely electronically controlled, hence thought should go with the ATF & filter change as that seems required at this mileage and the would not do any harm, in fact can only do good.

My queries are:

(1) Estimated amount of ATF fluid required (in litres please). How much ATF should I purchase?
(2) A detailed step by step procedure of the job...please!
(3) Anything specific that I should be careful about.

Thanks in advance.

Done

The link renault12ts put up is perfect. Went through the oil changes without any issues except for the drain plug which was too tight and actually ended up twisting one allen key!!!

Any how, all the symptoms mentioned in post above are past and yeah, the oil was black and there was a bit of grit in the pan too So its a good thing I did this job.

While at it, I also changed the engine oil and filter.

Pretty much covered Service A.:)
