Hi guys,

long time lurker wanting some advice please.

ive just purchased a 2012 22cdi sport coupe...its done 90k but the auto gearbox oil was never changed at 32/40k.

I wanting some recommendations from members who have had this by an independent in the west yorkshire area...Elite in halifax....Broadley in Huddersfield and Delaceys in Brighouse have been mentioned.

Has anyone actually used any of these guys or anyone they would recommend?
im already a little worried about the gearbox oil not being done til now....last thing i want is going to wrong garage to have it changed!

thanks in advance

i've never had chapter and verse on when the requirement for an ATF/filter change came in on the W/S204. It's mentioned in the owners manual for my 2008 C220 S204, but when I bought the car from MB Ashford I had a major discussion with the service manager about this (car had been supplied new and serviced by MB Ashford, taken in PX from first owner with well over 37k miles and no ATF change, and given a B service as part of the purchase by me). MB Ashford would not budge, saying that requirement was for cars much later than mine. I'm guessing when they changed from the 5 speed to 7G gearbox, whenever that was.

Who did the first service after 37k - was it an MB main dealer? I'd be calling them to ask why they missed a major part of the service schedule!

thanks for the reply...

the previous owner had the car from july 2012 (at 5k) and only ever had it serviced from Premier Service in Leicester who claim to be mercedes specialists. To be fair the service records are up to date and its been serviced on time. All the more reason why its odd that the gearbox oil hadn't been changed.

I rang them up to ask this very question, but the reply wasnt very convincing, they suggested that the previous owner didnt want the extra cost of having it done!

anyway, i am where i am and eager to have this done asap.

There seems to be a bit of confusion over the sealed for life thing. When I bought my CLK the service history showed no evidence of the transmission being serviced,to be sure I did the full trip using Fuchs Titan fluid, new filter, pan gasket, pilot bushing and new pan bolts. I pumped about 12 ltrs of fluid through to flush the TC,the fluid that came out was nice and pink with no burnt smell. It would seem that the box was in good shape, but I wanted the peace of mind. I still have about 8 litres of fluid if any of you want to make me an offer PM me.

Thanks for the offer but I'm looking for a garage that can supply everything and carry out the work.

Was sifting through my paper work last night and mine was done at 38k by Mercedes

Well, it says hydraulic fluid change so I imagine that's the ATF? Was a lease car previous so it was all listed on the lease paperwork everything that's been done since new

My brake fluid just been done on a B service. 46K

Mine was done by main dealer at the 38k service.

I'm going to have it done again next year at 67k, and then in another 5 years at around 100k.

Done Here on a2011 c180 with 5 speed auto. Was completed by Merc dealer at 33.5k miles..... Apparently
