ATS Air Con recharge £37.99 via Groupon

I've had cars like that.

I recall that it's more likely where the car has climate control rather than air con.

In my case, it wasn't broken it was just the way that it works in auto mode.

It's the basic MB system - in auto it's absolutely hopeless, doesn't cool the car unless temp is clicked down to its lowest setting and then the fan goes to max speed. So I use it in manual all the time.

I should have pushed it more when it was newer (it's an ex-MB management car and I've had it since it was 5mths old). I wonder if the controller is faulty - indie shrugged and said there are no fault codes.

I think I'm gonna do this ATS Euro Groupon £45 regas and antibacterial clean (I get a musty smell when turning AC off) in the next few days... unless someone warns me off them!

I think the offer is valid until the end of this month.

I had mine done at Halfords a couple of years ago on my previous E220 and a spotty kid out of the shop just used a handheld bottle of refrigerant, with a gauge on the top (looked like a dial-type tyre pressure gauge). Previously when I've seen it done, a A/C machine (?) has been wheeled up to the car with various tubes connecting etc.

It may well be that the Halfords method is just as viable, but after they did the recharge, the fans on the car where running at full speed all the time for a couple of days without the A/C being noticably colder. I ended up having an A/C service at the MB dealership, which was only £80 and done properly.

Of course, a basic top-up may well work for most and the ATS service may well be better than I got at Halfords.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of!

Having said that, when I go to MB Cardiff, they're spotty kids working there too, so...

I did a couple of cars using this voucher last year. The ATS local to me are quite good and the cars are still blowing cold air so at least I know they filled it up with no leaks.

Had mine done with the offer at ATS, no problems...lets be honest, the machine does all the work

I had a "professional" air con guy come out to do two of my cars, checked pressures, emptied the current refrigerant out, dried them out added, uv dye and refilled with correct weight gas, both cold as ice now. £95 for them both and he came to me!

WARNING! Check locations before you book. Unlike me......

I live in NW London and have been been offered Brixton, Croydon (!), Bow, Heathrow or St Albans (!!).

So I've saved a significant amount of money but will now have to factor in a fair slug of unleaded and find a free morning or afternoon.

It's still massively cheap so I'm not complaining.

Update... 2 cars in today at ATS Horsham.

Both cars out with new gas and colder A/C

Booked mine in for tomorrow afternoon in St Albans. It's not as bad as I originally thought as Google Maps says 30-40 minutes travel time.

Looking forward to proper a/c again. It's been a bit limp in the recent hot spell.

I posted this May last year...still going fine & icey cold

Air con

Had mine done today. It was running at half capacity (under 300g per whatsit when it should have been 650-odd).

It's now MUCH better at low speeds. Came in really handy today crawling back into town @ 29 degrees.

Very happy and looking forward to using it in France.

Thanks for the heads up - mine is a 2015 so probably about the right time to get it done so I've got it booked in for Thursday.

I've only ever used an aircon specialist once before, but it turned out that time it was my AC pump that was worn at about 8-9 years and needed replacing which made a huge difference.

The wife isn't happy the car is going to get colder :)

Bliss is a PROPERLY chilled car :)

Aye I can't wait - to be fair it gets cold enough but it's not ice cold so fingers crossed this will be enough to send Betty Swollocks home for the season :D

I notice in the older post @OneForTheRoad mentioned doing an AC module reset after having the gas done - is that needed as if so I'll break Xentry out after they've done the top up :thumb:

I bought the voucher... just need to get it booked in

Mine is probably very low as it hisses and I can’t wait for the horrible smell to go!

Only needs reset if its dissabled itself.
