Morning,

It seems that my stereo has been changed at some point and the Mercedes dealership cannot tell me what my new code is from the serial number. It's an Alpine MF2910, and having Googled it, it looks like it's a tough one to crack but would the dealer be correct in being unable to find out?

They told me the only option is to remove it and send away to have it scanned/cracked.

Surely this cannot be the case...?

Same situation here.. If the unit is not the original of the car the dealers system doesnt very often work just by serial number...
Im trying IRC UK at the moment, they claim to be able to do it online from the serial number... will let you know how I get on..

Normally I take the units to a chap near me who decodes it overnight.

yea he sticks into his freezer for 12 hours once below zero the chip can be re set

Hopefully the code is not reset automatically at this temperature. There would be a lot of radios with the code reset throughout Europe this winter.

DO NOT USE IRC uk, they gave me randome coded that didnt work and then wouldnt refund my £8.99.. paypal refused the claim too as it was not a "good."

Thanks for updating the thread, and it sucks that that happened...

Did you ask the code from the serial number or do you know the VIN of the car where the radio was originally installed? The code should be available for free for the genuine owner of the radio (like yourself).

VIN didnt match up to the serial number, obviously been replaced.
