Audio 20 -No Sound unless you mute & un-mute

I have a strange question.
My Audio 20 was working fine until it went for a service.
Now, when I turn the radio on or when I start the car with the radio on I get no sound output although the display shows everything ok.

If I press the mute button & then again to un-mute, the sound output comes back fine at the pre-set level.

Is this a setting in the "car management system" or is there some strange funtion of the radio that I am una aware of ???

Standard Audio set up

The car did have a car phone fitted judging by the fin and std connectore- but NO,it has not got a phone fitted and was working fine prior to its trip to the garage.

( by the way the phone kit looks like it has not had power supplied to it since I purchased the car second hand. Any idea what fuse number supplies the car phone connector in the arm rest ??)
