Hi all,

I have just installed the MB ipod kit into my 2005 post facelift W203. I understand that I need to get the phone option enabled in order to use the Ipod via the steering wheel.
However, the Audio 20 now only works for 30 mins and doesn't show up in the instrument cluster. It is almost like the interface kit has swapped the constant 12v and the ignition 12v supply around. Any one have any experience with this problem and if so pse tell me how to fix.

Many thanks in advance,

DME

The CANbus isnt getting through from the car to the AUdio 20 so it doesnt know whether car is on or off and cant send info to the cluster

This is most likely because you didnt install the connector onto the ipod interface box properly (CAN loops through the interface)

You should have moved the rotating arm on the connector down so it was parallel with the end of the connector, as you push the connector in it rotates back again and locks into place

Cheers

Richard

As a note , you also have to swap the most (optical) cable as well if fitted.

Thanks Guys,

It was the air gap which stopped the instrument cluster working with the Audio unit.

Glad I didn't have to pull the whole car apart again for that.

There were no fibre optic cables present, should there be?

Once again, many thanks

There will only be fibre (orange cable pair in upper corner of connector) if you have phone pre-wire, linguatronic, Harman Kardon or a Cd changer.

Hi, I installed the same kit and can flick through the tracks but because the phone option isn't enabled I have to flick through 10,000 tracks one at a time = very annoying. How easy is it to enable the phone? I went to my local Mercedes dealer and they didn't have a clue!! Cheers,

John

Its really easy - they just plug in STAR Diagnosis, go to instrument cluster and do the 'retrofit iPod' procedure

If you're near Woking, go see Alfie

Ah cheers for the tip!! I live in Liverpool so Woking is a bit far but I will ask my local Merc dealer if they can do that. J
