I've just bought a 2010 A207 (E class-convertible, but it's a C-class really...) with an Audio 20 with integral CD changer. According to the LastVin datacard, it also has the Universal Communications Interface (Option 518). Is this just the Bluetooth, or does it enable me to play music from a USB stick or SD card, and if so, where is the connection for it? I've looked, but I can't find it...

Ah, so the blue one from Pompey was upto scratch - excellent

Would it be one of the USB sockets in the arm rest?
You'll have looked in the glove box (the obvious place), so that would be my guess

I'm my 2012 E350, I had an iPod classic plugged into the 'Media Interface' which, with Comand, I could voice activate.
I also have it in the E400

Nothing in the glove box, nothing in the armrest.

Yes, it is up to scratch.

I've got the same car Audio as you. There are no USB sockets in the car at all. I've resorted to a cable from the Aux port in the glovebox to my phone when travelling. Only this weekend I ordered a jack plug to USB and into that was a USBstick that I could Bluetooth this to my phone. It didn't work, so resorted to the cable. I play music from my iPhone, but carplay is a no no with the options fitted to the car.

It's the worst bit of the car, but obviously correct for the tech of the day.

See this:

The car's Bluetooth is fine for the phone, and previous owner streamed her music through one of those gizmos that goes into the 12V socket and generates an FM signal for the radio. Not a terribly elegant solution, though it works.

HOWEVER...

Now I look in daylight, there is in fact what looks very like a media interface connection in the glove box, hidden away in the gloom right at the top and rear near the centre of the car, and facing downwards so I can't actually see the contacts inside. I can't think of anything else it might be, though. If it is that, all I need (he said hopefully...) is the right cable and a USB stick , and I'll be able to play my music through the head unit.

Would this: Pardon our interruption...

include what I need? Fingers crossed...

I had a look this morning and as DB's post above, mine is just an open cut out:wallbash: nothing fitted.
