Audio20 - Veseeo power supply problem

Approx every second engine start the power to the audio unit would appear to be missing. Sometimes it's far more frequent than 1-in-2. The radio side of it works after being switched off then on again at the Radio button despite the display being lit. The CD will only work if the radio is activated first, no amount of pushing the CD button will activate it. The CDC will not work at all showing 'No CDC' in the display.
When all this happens there is also no power to the Viseeo 1000 unit in the armrest.

When it does work from scratch it all works. Flicking the ign key off/on doesn't help when the fault occurs.

I'm tempted to think there's something wrong in the Audio unit rather than the ignition switch. 2003 S211.

Any ideas please?

This fault has eventually been traced to the fibre optic link going through the 6 CD changer. It's been bridged out with a 'gateway' (?) and everything else is now working again. Can the 6 changer be repaired please? Or is it even worth it?
