AUSTRIAN Grand Prix

In the universe with diamonds....;)

Lewis made the corner. (followed the track)
Nico didn't. (maybe down to brake fail)

Racing is about wining, overtaking. Good on them both for wanting to win and providing a spectacle.

Funny that the Lewis haters are pouncing on him even though most of the TV pundits (ex drivers and the REAL experts, (unlike all of us here)) and the race Stewards have apportioned the blame with NR.

My humble opinion is that NR was to blame. As I think LH has been in the wrong on other occasions. None of them are perfect. They all make mistakes. Unfortunately racers just never admit to them.

F1 can't win. procession, everyone complains that it's boring. Drivers trying to overtake? Then people complian and say he shouldn't have even tried.

Racing incident! Move on and lets hope for an equally exciting end to the race at Silverstone. :thumb:

A few comments here about the WCC being the most important one. Totally disagree. Hamilton won the WDC in 2008. No one talks about Ferrari wining the WCC that year. It's all about the Drivers championship. Always has been, always will be.

Two guys go for a corner on the last lap of a race. Both want the position. They are both racing hard and taking risks. Their tyres are wearing out. It's established practice to push a competitor wide on a corner.

Spot on.

Good old fashioned motor racing as the way it should and none of the PC bull that everybody seems to think should be mandatory in every aspect of life including motorsport. And the funny thing is if both drivers DNF, it would just make the rest of the season far more interesting.

You are looking at it from a fans perspective. From a Team / manufacturer perspective the WCC is the more prized and the one they pay the drivers to win. That way the context to the comments, not what Joe public considers to be the more important or memorable.

Williams were even talking about it this weekend. The measured success in the number of WCC's they had won, not how many WDC's their drivers had won.

Good point Stu.

However, look at all the greats in F1. Not many have been team players have they? On the whole selfish sportsman indeed. Not many drivers have had great success being 'Mr nice guy'.

As I've said before, Jenson & Fernando get on very well and work together for the team, pop them both in the Merc and wonder how long that'd last for?

I agree no driver is bigger than any team, but they all have one track minds when it comes to their own glory.

Yep, which is why for me it was a racing incident, as the other ones earlier in the year have been as I have mentioned. Rosberg did make the corner and Hamilton was still on the track when they hit so had been given a car width into the corner. It was harsh but he had the right to hang him out to dry IMO. Would say the same if the drivers were the other way around.

As said, they both gambled the other would bottle. Neither did, but that's good hard racing for me.

Hamilton put him in the position of having to defend his place. That is going to be the trigger of team orders, not the response Nico gave to the move and that is not good for the sport.
