However if you switch to the reliability section the picture changes with several Hybrid vehicles featuring at the top. e.g the Toyota Prius. But ignoring the inherent bias of such surveys and the "holier than thou" hatred such vehicles appear to engender. Could it be that coupling an internal combustion engine to an electric generator/motor type of powertrain is inherently longer lasting/ more reliable than a conventionally engineered car? After all if its good enough for railways submarines and ships round the world even FORMULA 1 maybe its the future. Maximum torque at Zero RPM might not be all bad.
