Have you been playing with the settings by any chance...? :D

You may have switched continuous circuit headlamp mode to ON.

Is the sensor area clean?

Yep, think so..it is the one on the front of the rear view mirror i.e visible from the windscreen isn't it?

Ehhh, dont think so.

Would this also switch them on permanently i.e even when switched to 'off' on the main switch? ..because I can switch them off from there

Thanks

no the light sensor is in your windscreen, you will see some clear bits in the black part at the top centre from the outside..

Yep, thats where I was looking and it is squeaky clean...looks like something is b******d ...
Any hints where to start, is a faulty sensor the 'usual' problem??

Thanks
Jon

Is that not the rain sensor? (Or is the light sensor located there too?)

I believe so. If it's the same as my Vito, on that cluster menu setting they would come on with the ignition regardless of where the light switch is (like Volvos).

there is another clear bit if you have a rain sensor...

this is the reason the windscreen companies always get the glass wrong, there are just so many different combinations!

This is weird.
Just been out to have another look, confirmed everything looks clean..couldn't see anything by the wipers btw, and...it works???

Didn't work all yesterday or this morning!!!

Thanks all, just by 'talking' about it things get fixed...amazing!!

Thanks

OK guys. Airmatic compressor on my W220 is playing up.
Let the conversations begin.................. :D

(Glad you got it sorted  )

Wish I could help, unfortunately I know JS about 'Airmatic compressors'...whatever they are..in any case it's probably worth having a quick look now to see if its working..

It's the pump that lifts the car up and down (air susspension).
Been a bit noisey ever since i took ownership (10 months).
Thinks it's about time I got round to sorting it out. Stealer wants about 800 pounds to do it.
Indy will do it for less than 400!!!

Still expensive but needs doing. Was just hoping that some of your luck might rub off onto my car, saving me the four hundered quid!!

auto lights

last week my w203 c230k told me via the display that the light sensor was faulty and that I needed to drive to the workshop. I rang service, BTW the warranty had 2 days to run, and arranged a visit in the next week thereby ensuring any costs would be covered by warranty.

He Ho the next day the message went off and the display showed 0 malfunctions, and i cancelled the service call

I would add that everything worked even though the message was showing.

The service tech suggested that something animate and small may have got into the sensor area.

Does the computer know to delay the fault until the warranty expires!!! or have i watched too many X files.
