Does this all make having dashcam footage a get out of jail free option ?

I see your point, but no, because the incident has never happened, so you have no proof and it comes down to your word against theirs.
Given that they have all of your details - name, address, reg number and phone number, things aren't looking too rosy from the outset.

As in the earlier article, sometimes it is actually cheaper for the insurance company to pay out instead of fighting a case.
If £2,500 for whiplash is cheaper than fighting, they will sometimes look after themselves and cough up, leaving a mark on the record of the innocent premium payer.
This is absolutely spot on.

I had meant more on the lines of that dashcam footage shows you as elsewhere at the time , or any solid alibi for elsewhere that then shows their story as a lie/deception ?

The line i like to use when these company’s call goes something like this- “according to out records sir you have had an accident in the last 6 months” i say “yes i have” they normally get a bit excited now and ask about the accident, which i say “yea i got my girlfriend pregnant” then the line usually goes dead! :D :D :D

My usual reply to the call that says you have been involved in an accident is "yes, I have, how did you know?" At that point their reply is that they will put me through to a senior claims handler.
The senior bod then asks for the date of the accident. My reply is "I can't remember the exact date but it was in 1982 - how did you find out about it?" At that point the line goes dead.

Those packs of bacon and other meats that have a plastic film lid. There’s usualy a triangular plastic flap at one corner that you’re supposed to pull and the whole lid peels away with ease.

Yeah, right. The lids are welded on with the strongest bond on earth and even if you can get it started the flap tears off.

Always revert to a sharp knife to cut off the lid.

Interesting read and things similar happen like this in the USA.
That is because we are from or live in countries that have robust laws & procedures .

Now running repair business in Caracas, the basic rules don't apply, but the you don't get demands such as you have received.
Simply put, most businesses have a "minder" (a Browning armed Guarda espalda)
Such demands would be swiftly dealt with by (in my case a hired hand going by the name of Brujo (aka the male witch) who, when not working for the Discip (secret police )was protecting my interests.
People who thought they could rip me off were subjected to visit by Brujo and his off duty cop mob Los Chingareros (knee cap drillers)
.Rest assured they would re-arrange anatomy..
Sometimes a robust deterrent is a good option.
