Thanks, I'll see if I can find a used one. this is the equipment code U18 AUTOMATIC CHILD SEAT RECOGNITATION (AKSE)

This means that your car has the AKSE option, and so you need the sensor mat that has the optional RF module (which is what your original sensor mat has). If you fit a different mat, you'll get an error on the dash (unless you delete the AKSE coding from the SAM, but this isn't cheap either....).

The only way forward, to my mind, is a brand new genuine sensor mat with the same part number as the original item (and yes, they're not cheap). If buying on eBay, make sure that mat is sealed in genuine MB packaging. A second hand one will soon fail...
