Hi all,

I plan on performing an engine oil and filter change this weekend, will be doing something like this below.

Can anyone advise what actually goes on at 10:45 in this video? He manages to drain out a lot of excess oil and I want to be as thorough when doing mine.

Can I turn on the engine and switch between gears with the plate off, maybe this will shoot out some excess oil too?

Just detach the return pipe from the cooler at the gear box end and run fluid through till it runs clean. I put about ten litres through mine to get all the old fluid out.

What your saying sounds like a good idea, thanks, but I'm gonna need some pointers here if possible.

I've found something on YouTube, is this similar to what your talking about, watch from 20:45.

@Trickythemerc Thanks for the advice, I will try and locate the return pipe if someone can link me to some pictures or videos that would be perfect.

You mention you put in about 10 litres to get all of the old fluid out, do you put this into the engine intake hole or the dipstick hole? Also, at what intervals do you switch on the engine and do you go through any gears like park, neutral ect..

Cheers!

I'm confused,.. it doesn't take much.
You mention engine oil and filter, then post a link to ATF and filter change. Assuming you made a typo and intend to change the ATF, there is an excellent write up by Olly (PCS-Forum sponsors) here http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/engine/88418-how-change-automatic-gerbox-oil-flush-722-6-box.html
